#Bibliophile Day 13: This #NewberyWinner is a book about sisters, about the journeys we take to find ‘home‘ (only to discover it within ourselves); it is also about grief and loss and the glittering skies that provide a shining cushion against darkness and pain and overwhelming loneliness. Kira Kira is a touching Newberry winning story about a family who moved from a Japanese community to Georgia and all of the struggles they face. This book won a newberry award and I think this book will be relatable for kids who are new to a town and feel like they don't fit in. I would use EL 3: "Encourage self talk" so that students can talk about how they relate to this story. TS-IR

SavannahP0930 UDL 3.1 "Activate or supply background knowledge" I like this UDL because I'm sure many students have been the new kid before and it's important for them to have someone to relate to. See https://worksheets.edhelper.com/books/KiraKira.htm for worksheets/writing prompts/crosswords. #ucflae3414f17 7y

My current commute #audiobook is one I missed in elementary school somehow.

What books have you read as an a adult that you missed out on as a kid?

Just read this for the kids book club that I run at work and I cannot recommend it enough. It gets all the points for diversity, intelligent writing, and SO MANY FEELS. I don't care how old you are. Read it.
