This brutal book is a gritty, dark, violent look at the world of drug trafficking. It reads as a series of connected stories that all come together in the end. Early on, I considered bailing and definitely thought I might pan it, but it builds in such a way that makes it worth sticking to. It might be a good idea to have a puppy around to hug at the end to dispel the darkness. #botm

My first DNF of the year.

Fifty pages in, & nothing of substance has happened, & I don‘t care about any of these characters, & I‘m not impressed with anything about the author‘s style.

I‘m moving on. Maybe I‘ll circle back later.

This was a different kind of book. It seemed very Tarantino- ish with a the crazy time lines, drugs, murder and nutty cast of characters. I struggled to get into it and thought it was just ok.

Gritty crime novel. Lots of twists and turns, but the pacing felt uneven and I didn't connect with any of the characters.

I don't read much crime fiction, but that may need to change. This book was like a Quentin Tarantino movie... dangerous, off beat, pulsating, satirical, captivating & a mad rush! Beginning with the outcome, the story reads in reverse, connecting the many characters and bit players to create a memorable ride. Great #BOTM selection! Not sure how I felt about this book. Liked the action and tying all the stories together, but I didn't like any of the characters. Maybe that was the point for the author. People aren't always likable, especially when feeding addiction 3.5/5stars 🤗🤗🤗

New filters are pretty cool 😂 -- but this book was not my favorite #botm pick. Fun, multi-layered story about a California - Miami - Thailand ecstasy ring, and definitely a quick read, but it never really drew me in.

I enjoyed reading this one a lot! Not usually what I gravitate towards, but solid, gritty crime fiction that kept me hooked.

Drug trafficking, betrayal, murder: all wrapped in a meticulously laid out novel split into five parts. The stories and characters almost don't seem related at first, but it builds and builds with layer upon layer and the next thing you know everything clicks into place.

Glad I added this to my November #botm box! 📚

I loved this book! It's crime novel without the good guys and had a bad ass female antagonist. What more could you want in a book? It was heady, intelligent, and it even had the capability to make you sympathize with the characters - no matter how screwed up they are. I will definitely be reading other books by this author.

I'm not quite sure how I feel about this book. It was cool to follow 3 different groups to a specific event. I just felt like some parts were a little lengthy?
