It‘s a wrap! #AugustStats #AugustWrapUp

I got a couple things finished up early in the month, that I had carried over from July…and then just a few books and a couple short stories, novellas, etc. not the best reading month for me, because of a combination of factors, but onto September….brand new month! Let‘s hope for more peace, quiet, and reading!

MallenNC I am going to join for 400 Souls. I have the book and have been meaning to get to it. 3y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa @MallenNC I‘ve been meaning to read it for awhile now too. So perfect timing! 3y
MallenNC @Riveted_Reader_Melissa Me too. I got it right when it came out and meant to read it right then but other books got in the way. 3y

Ruthiella You are the empress of group reads! 👑 3y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa @Ruthiella More like insanity! Empress of Insanity (that sounds like a new YA novel title though 😂) 3y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa @Ruthiella It‘s not so bad as long as you forgive yourself if you get behind on one or two here and there. 3y

#AugustWrapUp! I felt like I struggled a bit this month, a lot of longer more thoughtful reads that I needed to take my time with, instead of quick ones that give you that almost instantaneous sense of accomplishment. I missed the fix of going through quickly, but I can‘t say I regret any of the time I took with these either....sooo note to self: slow down enjoy each book, push myself a bit less. 🤷‍♀️

Singout I'm so glad Silent Spring was required reading in my Grade 13 World Issues course. 4y

Oh the possibilities....

(the first 4 are in progress/carrying over from July)

(And beyond....)

Hooked_on_books I read Silent Spring in college and it had such an impact on me. I count it among my favorite books and I retained my original copy, something I rarely do. 4y

Gezemice 6 buddy reads! Lol I can‘t keep up with 2! 5y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa @Gezemice #StarWarsBuddyRead (Solo), plus the #BBBBC (Sleeping Giants), ShakespeareBuddyRead (Merry Wives of Windsor), and PratchettPosse (Witches Abroad) which you read too. The other too were for a Litsy Postal Mark Up group I signed up for last year, and we picked to send and mark up nonfiction reads, we enjoyed it so we did it again this summer (Down Girl, and The Pun Also Rises were ones, the others in this rotation where The World Without... 5y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa ...Us, and No Apparent Distress). I enjoyed them all for different reasons, so far it‘s always been a good eclectic mix 5y

Things I planned to read in August, some for my various reading groups, PLUS everything I didn‘t get to in June AND July. 🤷‍♀️ 😱 🤦‍♀️ 🤪

One day at a time, just keep reading, reading 🐠, and whatever I don‘t get to will get pushed back into September and October.🤣

I think Fall is going to have to be a series catching up plan. 📚🙈

Samplergal I feel your pain. And those library holds throw a wrench into all the plans. 5y
bromeliad Well the Mueller Report will be a slog, but a lot of the ones you're showing here are quick reads, so hopefully it's not too overwhelming! You got this!! 🙌 5y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa @bromeliad I‘ve been slowly working on that one since it came out...half the time I‘m determined to finish it, and half I‘m ready to DNF it, and it seems to depend on how disgusted I am while reading the previous section and how swamped the current political news is with inaction. 5y

bromeliad Man, I hear you. I was looking up some pop psych tips for reducing daily anxiety/stress levels and one recurring tip was “stop following the news so closely. It's designed to trigger negative emotions to keep you engaged.“ And the politicians seem to be outrageously in cahoots across the aisle to protect Trump. 5y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa @bromeliad Yes, That about sums it up. It‘s important and necessary to realize just how deep it all goes, I still believe knowledge is the best disinfectant, and yet so frustrating to realize we were attacked by a foreign country (and really still are being attacked) and one side of the aisle is so entrenched in protecting their guy, their status, whatever... that they don‘t want to even admit it happened let alone pass anything to prevent it. 5y
bromeliad Well yeah, and then you have Pelosi's baffling trepidation...but yeah, I think this is going to end up being another Watergate, spending decades trying to figure out just how deep the rabbit hole goes. 5y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa @bromeliad Yep, I agree..... we won‘t really know the whole story until long after it‘s in the past....sadly. But yes, I agree, I think the scandal runs deeper than anyone realizes. 5y
JazzFeathers I'm sure you'll manage to read all that you've planned. You're one of the most fantastic readers l've ever known. 5y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa @JazzFeathers Awww, I‘m so glad you think so, but I usually average about 12 a month and that usually includes counting some short stories, etc., so this list is about double that! So very high expectations for myself, LOL! But I‘m still glad you think I‘m a good reader, you‘re a pretty great reader yourself! 5y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa @Samplergal Yes, that plus all the great Litsy reading groups I decide to jump into that I didn‘t see coming. 😂 #BookishProblems, but still great problems to have. 5y
