See what i mean about the remix 😳💁🏼‍♀️📖😋

vumblereads Pleased huh? So would it be weird to say, “I‘m gruntled to meet you.”? 😅 4y
pilardib I'm definitely gonna start using this word from now on hahaha 4y
VioletBramble One of the books I'm currently reading used the word whelmed. It reminded me of that scene in 10 Things I Hate About You: “I know you can be underwhelmed, and I know you can be overwhelmed, but can you ever just be whelmed?“ Apparently you can. 4y

ItsAnotherJen @VioletBramble that's funny! I forgot about that scene until now. 4y
RvnclawWhovian All I hear is Michael Scott saying “It was a crime of passion Jan, not a disgruntled employee. Everyone here is extremely gruntled” 4y
kwmg40 Just finished a book in which Gruntle is a main character! I noticed that you too are a fan of the Malazan Book of the Fallen series. 4y
Ddzmini @vumblereads no it would be very nice as I am gruntled to meet you as well 💁🏼‍♀️ 4y
Ddzmini @pilardib @VioletBramble yes I‘m using it now I‘m very gruntled right now and huh whelmed huh well another would I will stat to use 🤣🤣🤣🙌🏽 4y
Ddzmini @JenFowler it‘s a good one and @RvnclawWhovian I just really like the word as it is a positive of a negative 4y
Ddzmini @kwmg40 yes I love that series as it gives you quite a bit to think about and keeps you engrossed in the world of Malazan 4y

Okay, I‘m not going to talk about Oxford, sorry it just didn‘t not let me choose a book. But I have a question I would like to ask. I‘m currently at the University and I‘m studying Arts, more specifically writing, is my dream to be a writer, anyway none of my families are reader so I was wondering, would it be okay if I posted some books ideas and you guys tell me if you like it or not? I don‘t know who else to ask.

wanderinglynn The best thing is write what you know or what you want to know (and therefore will research). Great ideas come from the act of writing. So my advice would be to just start writing. 5y
Lalaomi @wanderinglynn thank you, and I have started writing some ideas, just don‘t know if they‘re interesting to other people or if it is too complicated or not complicated enough, and I would like an outsider opinion 5y

Ihr Littens sind wirklich super, hatte ich doch letztens erwähnt, dass mein Englisch ein bißchen Hilfe braucht, kamen direkt mehrere Vorschläge. Nun hab ich oben genanntes Buch als App und seit heute bekomme ich jetzt jeden Tag ein Wort zum Lernen. 😍

You Littens are fantastic. I mentioned some days ago, that my English is getting worse and several Littens helped. Now I have this chosen book as app and I get every day a new word to learn. 😍

LectricSheep I didn't even know this word! 😅 7y
Sarah83 @LectricSheep I also thought, it is an interesting word to start with. 😉 7y
LitLogophile Hahah bombsight -- ich bin eine Amerikanerin, aber ich hatte keine Ahnung! 7y
Sarah83 @lostlogophile Why do you speak German? At least I think no one knows all the words of his language 😉 7y
LitLogophile Haha I was an intern in Berlin a few years ago... but I guess I learned this English word from a German 😂 7y

Love this from @OED on twitter: "Does your conversation ever move 'bookwards'? It means 'in the direction of books', and dates to the 19th century."

After the birthday party, we started looking up words in the dictionary.

shawnmooney I. Want. To. Party. With. You! 8y
marixa I love the OED. Can't exactly add it to my stack as "read"...just the best reference book I own. 8y
Smrloomis Love it! 8y
StaceGhost I have to admit, I too could get down with a party like that! I'm always excited to see how words we think are so modern are actually centuries old (like the verbing of friend). 8y

Sue (I remember spending one of my first pays on a huge dictionary and a huge thesaurus, and my parents looking at me as though I was an alien 😂) 8y
Suzze I own the 2 volume set with magnifying glass. Got it really cheap about 20 years ago when I joined some book club. (Probably BOMC) Maybe outdated, but I love it! 8y
SusanInTiburon I love that set with the magnifying glass! We had one at my college newspaper, and it proved such an incentive to look things up! 8y
dairine My friends just gave me a 30 year old 2-volume! I cannot wait to use it in the classroom. (I teach AP Lit--at least one geek will love it, besides me.) 8y
