I know I said I was going to explain back in August. Time has really flown, but since it‘s October, this feels like a good time to finally put this out there. On 7/8, my mother was so weak, that she fell outside of our apartment on the sidewalk and I couldn‘t get her up, so we had to have an ambulance come get her. 👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻

GingerAntics She was really weak from the side effects of the Ozempic she was on, that was making her sick. Late that morning we found out she had stage 4 breast cancer. She had ignored the lump for a long while because she was afraid it was cancer. She spent 2 wks in hospital and 2 more wks in rehab. 👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻 2mo
GingerAntics She came home exactly a month later on 8/8. Later that month she did 5 days of intense radiation. She is responding well to treatment, and her current prognosis is much better than we ever expected when we first got her diagnosis. 👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻 2mo
GingerAntics The tumour had broken through her skin and it was necrotic, so she was on some pretty heavy antibiotics for a while. The gaping wound she had has since closed and no longer needs to be dressed or wound care. 👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻 2mo

GingerAntics To make matters worse, on 8/1 I went into work to a “happy anniversary” email. I had worked there for 2 yrs that day. By the end of the day, I no longer had a job, because I didn‘t have enough PTO to cover all the medical appts I needed to get my mother to. Family medical leave was apparently not an option. 👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻 2mo
GingerAntics Obviously, I am looking for a new job, and feel like I‘m scrambling to get us both through this madness. Things have settled down a little bit, and I‘ve even had one job interview. The best news is how well my mother is doing, though. The last 4 months have been a crazy, wild ride. 👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻 (edited) 2mo
GingerAntics If you think ANYTHING might be up with your girls, please get it checked out. The sooner it‘s caught, the easier it is to treat. As we have learned, even stage 4 cancer isn‘t an automatic death sentence anymore. Take care of yourself and the women in your life. 2mo
GingerAntics Finally got this written up and posted. Sorry it‘s taken so long. Please don‘t feel bad. I was supposed to go meet my father the weekend after I lost my job, and I still haven‘t met him yet. Whoops. #DeadPhilosophersSociety

GingerAntics Maybe this is why I have been practically addicted to animal crossing the last few weeks. On my island, I a millionaire (I am willing to pay my fair share of taxes in bells of course) and it‘s a perfect little island in a Cerulean Sea and oh my god I SERIOUSLY wish I were there! Can I just run away and live in her majesty‘s forest. I promise I‘ll be no trouble. 2mo
Amor4Libros So glad your Mom is doing better, and I hope everything pans out job-wise for you! 🫶🏽 2mo

Hooked_on_books That‘s a lot. I‘m glad some of the tough bits are behind you. It‘s good to have books and games to fall into as a distraction and solace in hard times. 2mo
marleed Oh my gosh, if only Littens could reach out and make this journey easier. Oh wait, is that a bundle of Littens right over there in her majesty‘s forest! We are her for you! I‘m sending virtual positive vibes for your mom‘s healing and your next job! 💕💕 2mo
GingerAntics @marleed thanks! ☺️ I think many of us have run away to her majesty‘s forest! I‘m so happy there are no political ads there! I am so over them! I sent in my mail in ballot almost a month ago. The ads just put me on edge now. 2mo
GingerAntics @Amor4Libros I had an interview on Monday morning. I was told I would hear something either way in 2-3 days. It‘s pretty much Saturday and I haven‘t heard a thing. So frustrating. This is the second job at this company I have interviewed for, and I never heard a word from either one of them. I‘m thinking I would be applying or interviewing with this company again. 2mo
GingerAntics @Chrissyreadit thanks! It definitely makes me want to find a job that isn‘t going to be horrible. I have an appt on Monday to start donating plasma, so at least I‘ll have a little bit of money coming in. 2mo
GingerAntics @Hooked_on_books I am all about distraction and escapism these days! 2mo

In October, we wear pink! Ladies, please, please, please get a mammogram every year. Guys, please make sure the ladies in your life get a mammogram every year. A mammogram saved my life. 💗

I've been very open about my breast cancer journey, and am always here to listen to and encourage anyone who finds themself or someone they know having to go through this awful journey.

AmyG I second the request. I know two people who recently found tiny masses and both are doing great after treatment. So happy you are here to tell your story, Harper. 😘 3mo

#Spooktober - Breast Cancer Awareness Month: Like so many families, my family has a cancer story as of two years ago. I watched my sister-in-law “fight like a girl,” and it was one of the bravest and most courageous battles that I have ever seen. A survivor‘s story is always that as are many illness encounters even when the battle is lost. Here‘s to raising awareness, encouraging hope and always praying for a cure!💗

Eggs Amen @Nute. 7 of the 9 family members I grew up with battled cancer; 3 still alive. Why don‘t we have a prevention/cure yet?!?! 5y
Nute @Eggs That‘s a valid question. A question for which there is no answer. One day soon seems like a long time coming! 5y
