pickThis audiobook allowed me to fangirl about Mr. Rogers last week. I‘ve read a bio of him by Maxwell King, so I knew most of the first half of the book. The 2nd half goes through 10 ways to live like Mr. Rogers. Most of those were good, I found one involving info about Andy Warhol & George Romero unnecessary. Maybe a little too fawning about Mr. Rogers but still a good book for those that don‘t want as in-depth as King‘s bio. #doublespin

pickA sweet book about an incredibly inspirational man. I enjoyed hearing about how “the Neighborhood” arose and the glimpses of Fred Rogers‘s humor behind the camera. I didn‘t care for Mister Roger‘s Neighborhood as a child (Sesame Street was my jam), but find myself seeking to be more like him as an adult and parent of young children. We may not share a belief system, but there is a lot to learn from Rogers about just being a good human. 3.5⭐️

I just finished The Green Mile last night, which I enjoyed much more than I thought I would. pickI‘ve read many books about Mister Rogers this year. It‘s difficult to review each one separately; my reading of one informs the other. While this text isn‘t as exhaustive as the Max King bio, I found it more readable. Edwards effectively conveys the mission of Fred Rogers‘s work & life: “He fervently hoped that it...helped give meaning to the lives of the children watching — or more precisely, that it gave them the capacity to find that meaning.”
OMG. This book implies that Mister Rogers & Captain Kangaroo once planned to open a school for Children‘s Educators/Entertainers. It‘s now one of my life‘s greatest regrets that it never happened.
I want to put graduation from “The Rogers-Kangaroo Institute” on my resume in the same way that I once wanted to attend Divinity School so I could say I was “studying to become a divinity.” The Rogers-Kangaroo Institute?! It sounds so lovely & absurd!

I‘m going on a real vacation for the first time in what feels like an eternity. My mom‘s advice was to pack “only the essentials and we can borrow/buy whatever else we need”. Well, looks like I‘m done packing! 🥰✈️🏝
