Teen Titans: Beast Boy
Teen Titans: Beast Boy | Kami Garcia
18 posts | 33 read | 13 to read
#1 New York Times bestselling author Kami Garcia (Beautiful Creatures) and artist Gabriel Picolo, the creative duo behind the smash hit Teen Titans: Raven, take you on a journey of self-discovery and acceptance, while reminding us the value of true friendship--especially when life gets wild. Garfield Logan has spent his entire life being overlooked. Even in a small town like Eden, Georgia, the 17-year-old with green streaks in his hair can't find a way to stand out--and the clock is ticking. Senior year is almost over. If Gar doesn't find a way to impress the Chosen Ones--the social elite at Bull Creek High School--he will never know what it's like to matter. Gar's best friends, Stella and Tank, don't understand why he cares what other people think. They miss their funny, pizza-loving, video game-obsessed best friend. Then Gar accepts a wild dare out of the blue. It impresses the Chosen Ones and his social status soars. But other things are changing, too. Gar grows six inches overnight. His voice drops and, suddenly, he's stronger and faster. He's finally getting everything he wanted, but his newfound popularity comes at a price. Gar has to work harder to impress his new friends. The dares keep getting bigger and the stakes keep getting higher. When Gar realizes the extent of his physical changes, he has to dig deep and face the truth about himself--and the people who truly matter--before his life spirals out of control.

The rejected title!! I actually liked this volume more than Raven's. Since BB is all about transforming, it's a power that's now visual and therefore easier to show. I do think the stories are very...high school drama-y, but it's not all bad. I also like how diverse the side characters have been! I saw a wheelchair, a prosthetic, Tank has dyslexia, and most of the people were brown! I'm excited for when BB & Raven meet!!

We picked up this book (along with a large stack of others) from our local library‘s bookmobile and J jumped right into it. After dinner tonight I picked it up myself and read it in one sitting. #boysreadtoo #raisingreaders #blackboyjoy

The plot to this volume was really well done, the development of Beast Boy was so executed really well especially in the beginning where all he wanted was to just fit in with the popular people.

The art was so well done especially the part where it shows what happens when Beast Boy changes into an animal.

I would really recommend this to anyone who loves graphic novels.

This was a quick, fun read - especially since my son has been really into the old Teen Titans Go! tv show lately. Beast Boy is a favorite in our house!

Loving this graphic novel series about Teen Titans. Thanks @DinoMom for lending it to me. I particularly like that this series engages me as an adult and the content is also suitable for my kiddo (minus a few swear words). Looking forward to the next installment due out this fall.

I loved the first book, Teen Titans: Raven, and considering the third book coming out in Febuary is about Raven and Beast Boy, I had to read this one first! I love the art style and the plot was so perfectly suited to Gar's backstory and overall personality. I really love this series and can't wait to see what will happen when we finally see Raven and Beast Boy together💚💜

I loved this one as much as I loved Raven. 💚

This YA graphic novel introduces the reader to Gar. Gar, like most teenage boys, wants to be taller, stronger, and popular. Unfortunately for him that doesn't come easy, at least not until he discovers he's different than everyone else.

I loved Gar's two best friends and I hope they come back in the next book.

I was given Raven to read without any prior knowledge of the Teen Titans, but I really enjoyed it, so when I saw the next volume I just had to have it.

Beast Boy is witty, clever and so much fun. Sometimes you're edging him on and others you just hold your head in your hands and tell him "Bad Idae Gar"
But rooting for him - even in his stupid moments - is never optional.

Enchanted_Bibliophile And now that I've seen the 3rd Volumes Cover, I know I'll definitely be reading it as well 4y

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Garcia‘s take on the Teen Titans as individuals is impressive, so far. I loved last year‘s Raven (she‘s my fave), and Beast Boy was nearly as good. In this volume, we get a bit of Garfield Logan‘s origin, and the story is enjoyable, but what really got me is the brilliant art and coloring. Picolo really brings the story up a notch. Looks like the next volume, out in February, will be about Beast Boy and Raven together. Can‘t wait!

Loved the continuation of this YA graphic novel series! Each book stands on its own so you don‘t have to read in order. Beast Boy is such a cinnamon roll & I love him! Plus he‘s got like the best friends ever! This story was funny and adorable! Can‘t wait for Beast Boy Loves Raven in 2021 to see how their stories merge! Thank you DC for providing me with a copy for review!

I wish the illustrator would have done similar to what they did with Raven and kept everything in hues of green, but this is in full color. Beast boy is no beast. He is a small guy with no power. No matter how much he works out he can not put on weight until he throws his parents “supplements” out the door. Now he is getting bigger, stronger, and having weird green hairy flashes of adventure. I really enjoyed this origin story
