“Goodnight Moon“ by Margaret Wise Brown, 1947. Picture book. My mom used to read this book to me all the time when I was younger! It's a classic for sure. This book will definitely appeal to children because it has for many years and is about something they are familiar with.

#UCFLAE3414F19 This adorable book written by Margaret Wise Brown and illustrated by Clement Hurd is a classic children's bedtime story about a rabbit's routine before he goes to bed. Before bedtime, the rabbit goes around the bedroom and says “goodnight” to all of the things that he/she notices whether they are inanimate objects like a red balloon or a pair of socks or two kittens.

ccipriati One of the attractions of this 72-year-old book is that it is comprised totally of rhyming verses. This is a great book for an independent read or even a storytelling. In 2007 the National Teachers‘ Association named this book one of its Teachers‘ Top 100 Books for Children. 4mo
ccipriati The UDL Guideline strategy that I have chosen for this book is 8.3 which is a strategy intended to foster collaboration and community. You can do this by starting the lesson by asking the students what and whom they say “goodnight” to. Then the discussion can evolve into a greater overarching discussion into things that make the students feel safe, stable and comfortable and why. 4mo
ccipriati The ESOL Strategy that I have picked for this book is #4 which is a strategy where you link lesson topic to students‘ prior knowledge. This is a great way for students to engage in text to self. They can do this by having a discussion about the things or people that they say “goodnight” to. 4mo

Goodnight Moon is a P picture book written by Margaret Wise Brown and illustrated by Clement Hurd. This book would be best used as a RT in a kindergarten class. This poem follows along with a bunny as it says goodnight to things throughout the room before it goes to bed. This book was awarded the Teachers Top 100 Books for Children by the NEA. #UCFLAE3414F19

katiehamlin The EL strategy I would use with this book is 46. Using discovery learning activities (hands-on-activities) is good for this book because doing a readers theatre is hands on and that‘s what I think the best teaching strategy for this book is. 4mo
katiehamlin Here is a link to a website with some really good activities to do with your students beyond the readers theatre you could do for this book. http://www.hubbardscupboard.org/goodnight-moon 4mo
katiehamlin The UDL principle I would use for this book is 5.1. Use multiple media for communication is good for this book, since I think it is best done as a readers theatre. 4mo
DrSpalding It is poetic however it is also fantasy. Readers theater could be a fun option however reading aloud and storytelling work quite well with this classic picture book. 2mo

Goodnight Moon by Margaret Wise Brown, illustrated by Clement Hurd is a great MF picture book for children in Pre-K through 1st grade. It is a perfect tool to use for Choral Reading as the story repeats. This is also a good story for beginner ESOL as the pages are short and simple, and available in Spanish. #UCFLAE3414F19

AleciaM ESOL and UDL that I would use for this book would be; 2.4 Promote understanding across languages as this book is also available in Spanish, and 12 teach to two objectives, language and context. https://www.youngpeoplestheatre.org/schools/teacher-resources/goodnight-moon-stu...

None of the quotes in this book are too significant, but this would be a great book to read right before nap time in a classroom. When the lights go off in the book, it creates this sense of peace to everyone viewing the book. It almost is a bedtime story because of how lulling it is.

I loved this book as a toddler. Looking back, I don‘t really know why because not much is happening in this book. My guess is that the illustrations weren‘t super detailed and easy for me to look at. Nevertheless, I would happily read this book to a group of infants and toddlers knowing they will love it.

Picture Books
There isn‘t much happening in this book, but to a child this is a continuous favorite. This book acts out a child saying goodnight to everything in their bedroom and then going to sleep. Each image in the book shows something in their bedroom. Children get to picture what the whole room looks like until the whole room is shown together. This books visuals are more important than the actual story itself.

this picture book contains a repetitive structure and rhyming story lines that sound appealing to children. The colors on pages turn back and forth from a orange/green theme to show the view of the room when saying goodnight, to black and white images of single pictures of items, places or things you might dream about. Its a relaxing read that will put the kids at ease!

I found this book “Buenas Noches Luna,”
a Spanish translation of the Modern Fantasy (F) children‘s story “Goodnight Moon”, written by Margaret Wise Brown and illustrated by Clement Hurd.

Killianfig The repetition and simply vocabulary/syntax of the book makes it a perfect Spanish teaching tool as UDL strategies 2.3, 3.1, and 1.1, and ESOL strategies 24 and 25 can be used effectively to display cultural and decoding information for the students. 11mo
Killianfig I believe that this should be teacher-spoken in exercises such as Storytelling (S), Guided Reading (GR), and Read Aloud (RA) as students will be able to observe how the words are pronounced in Spanish. The simple pictures that go along with the text also create a perfect translation aid in Shared Reading (SR) or Independent Reading (IR) exercises. 11mo

"Goodnight Moon", written by Margaret Wise Brown/illustrated by Clement Hurd, is a classic traditional literature (TL) picture book that has touched the hearts of many children! It could be used in a variety of ways in a classroom setting, including a storytelling (S) session. My mother used to read this story to my sister and I when we were younger, so "Goodnight Moon" holds a special place in my heart! "Goodnight Moon" is about a bunny who is

caldwellalex95 going to sleep. As the bunny gets tucked into bed, it says "good night" to its surroundings. The text is simple, but the illustrations are warm and calm. A website called "Inspirational Laboratories" created an activity called "The Goodnight Moon Storytelling Basket". This storytelling basket activity truly brings "Goodnight Moon" to life! ESOL strategy #40 and UDL's language and symbols strategy (2.5) pertain to this lesson plan. "Goodnight Moon" 11mo
caldwellalex95 is a classic book that all kids should be read to during their childhood! Just like how my mom read this story to my sister and I, I plan on reading this story to my students as well! #LAE3414SP19 www 11mo
