As Stella Wrights Nantucket candle store thrives, her knack for solving mysteries burns equally brightespecially when a Halloween haunted house uncovers evidence of a centuries-old murder . . . When Stellas friend inherits a creaky, abandoned home in Nantucket, she knows its the perfect setting for the towns annual Halloween fundraiser. A deserted, boarded-up building on the propertyonce used as a candle-making shopadds to the creepy ambiance. But as Stella explores the shacks dilapidated walls, she discovers a terrible secret: the skeleton of a Quaker woman, wrapped in blood-soaked clothing and hidden deep within a stone hearth . . . While police investigate, Stella wastes no time asking for help from friends with long ties to Nantuckets intricate history. The key to the murder may lie within a scorching 18th century love triangle that pit two best friends against one another over a dubious man. But before the case is solved, another life will be claimedleaving Stella to wonder who in Nantucket is friend, and who is foe . . . Praise for Murders No Votive Confidence A charming mystery with believable, likeable characters. Check it out. Suspense Magazine

This was my favorite book of the series! I enjoyed the aspect of historical mystery that was introduced. It made it a little more spooky than just sweet. I‘m always so bad at figuring out who the culprit is though! 😂

It‘s a gorgeous fall morning!!

My feelings toward this book are partially colored by the fact I've become burned out on Halloween cozy mysteries. It was fine and I think if it was one of the first ones I'd read I would have enjoyed it much more. 7.5 hours toward #20in4 readathon. #Scarathlon2021 #TeamSlaughter @Andrew65 @Clwojick

Reading outside for a break

LiteraryinPA What a vibrant sky as your background! 3y
TheBookDream @LiteraryinLawrence it really was? I‘ve taken to just lying on my back on the deck and reading. The sky makes a great background 3y

This cozy was perfect for getting me in the mood for Halloween! The author‘s third (and final so far) book of the series and I hope there will be more Stella adventures to come! My only request? Stella to end up with Andy - who agrees?!

It‘s possible I‘ve lost my taste for cozy mysteries. Once I got into this one, about 4 chapters in, I was able to finish fairly quickly but the ending and solution felt forced to me. While it could have just been my mood, I probably won‘t read any more of this series. #NovelNovember

Andrew65 Possibly need a break from them. I can only read so many before needing a break from them. Well done 👏👏👏 (edited) 4y
CocoReads This was the first one I‘ve read in a long time. I have one for book group this month as well but otherwise it‘s back to thrillers and rom coms for me. Maybe an MC or military romance thrown in for good measure. 4y
Andrew65 @CocoReads I much prefer thrillers and grittier mysteries. 4y

This was a cute pick for the “sweet” box from Once Upon a Bookclub! I think I knew who the murderer was towards the middle, but the author did a good job of distracting me with all sorts of crazy info.

With my recent promotion, it‘s so hard to find time for myself amidst the chaos. I was inspired by an influencer I follow to take more moments for myself, pockets of peace, to decompress. Tuesday mornings are the only time I have to myself, so I spend them reading and having lunch at the park up the street from work!

Pretty excited that my other Halloween box from Once Upon a Bookclub showed up today. I should finish my book group book tonight so after that I‘ll be working on both “spooky” and “sweet” book boxes.

15 Minutes of Flame has it all, great characters, mystery, murder, betrayal, and secrets. There is a fair amount of humor too. I really enjoyed this story!

The book was a pretty quick read and it was good, but somehow I just couldn‘t really get into it. Brenda annoyed me and, maybe because I didn‘t start from the beginning of the series, I felt like we just got characters and no real info on them.
