pickI took at break from Christmas themed books to read this one when my library loan came in. I was ready for something different. This is book 2 in the Night Huntress series. It took me a few chapters to reacquaint myself with the MC. Once I did, I was right back in the groove. Enjoyed this one and will add this sries to my list for #SeriesLove2023. @Andrew65 4⭐️

panI used a poll in a Facebook urban fantasy fan group to pick for me a series to read. The Night Huntress series was the most popular. I somewhat regret using a popularity vote to choose my reading because book 2 was awful (book 1 was tolerable). “Kickass heroine” engages in a catfight with her lover‘s ex, and wins the day by... marrying him? One entire chapter (32) was just a weird sex chapter... not my thing, but I will persist with the series.
so-soThe narrator makes Cat‘s voice annoying, I must admit. I‘m on the fence about Cat, but I want to read the physical book to see if the narrator‘s voice is putting me off her. She‘s still a bit too valley girl for me. There are a few chuckles in this book which I appreciated. For most of the book it was a so-so for me, but there were sections that redeemed it. It‘s a mixed bag of dialogue. “Not on your afterlife, Bitch” (Tate to Belinda) and 🔽
pickThis series is so good so far. I love Cat, the half human/half vampire that hunts murdering vampires. She‘s a badass.
Bones is awesome. He‘s back in this book and he‘s not letting Cat get away again. Even if he has to help the government agency she works for and split to lead his own line.
Cat gets more information about her history and about her current situation. There‘s a lot of growth for her in this book and I enjoyed it.
pickContinuing with this fun series. Though I was disappointed by some slut shaming. Especially since the femme protagonist talks critically about misogyny at a few points. 🤷🏻♀️ Your inner work leaves something to be desired, henny. And despite some the caricature British slang, I really love Bones. 🖤🧛🏻♂️ I just have to picture him *without* platinum blond hair. Because no thanks.

pickI am LOVING this series!! I was nervous to start the series because it is touted as a paranormal romance, and I don't do romance. However, two books in and I am HOOKED!! The romance is not romancy at all, very erotic, but not romancy! The story line is fabulous, I love the writing, and the characters are very relatable!! Can't wait to read the next one!
