Candymakers and the Great Chocolate Chase
Candymakers and the Great Chocolate Chase | Wendy Mass
6 posts | 9 read | 1 reading | 5 to read
It has been a few months since the Harmonicandy was chosen as the winner of the nationwide candymaking contest. Forever changed by the experience, Logan, Miles, Philip, and Daisy have returned to their regular lives. But when presented with the chance to go on tour to promote the new candy, they each have very different reasons for hitting the road. The stakes are a lot higher than they thought, however, and a decades-old secret is revealed. In this action-packed adventure, the four friends embark on a journey full of hidden treasures, imaginary worlds, rivers of light, a map of awe, a sky of many colors, and one very small cat who thinks he's a dog. And candy.LOTS and LOTS of candy. They've already learned to trust one another. Now they'll have to trust themselves in order to face what lies ahead and save what really matters.

Mehso-so

3✨Just like in the first book you get a perspective view of each of our 4 main characters. Then we continue the story with them all together on a road trip. They discover quite a bit about different family relationships and why the winning candy from the first book was so magical. I feel this book was much longer then it had to be and dialogues repeated themselves, but I enjoyed the story line.

megnews I like road trip books. I wish it wasn‘t so long and repetitive. Maybe someday… (edited) 3y

I‘ve been seriously pondering my reading choices and what I enjoy reading and what I don‘t enjoy reading and asking myself why. One thing that I‘ve settled with myself - I really love middle grades fiction. I read a LOT of middle grades fiction when I was young and transitioned from that to adult fiction (I don‘t think the YA genre was that big in the mid-80s).To this day, YA fiction isn‘t my jam but middle grades fiction - I ❤️.

LeahBergen I feel exactly the same way. I‘m just not a huge YA fan. 🤷🏻‍♀️ 7y
rubyslippersreads I like some YA (though I'm kind of sick of dystopia, or the plain girl who is actually a queen/magician/assassin 😄). 7y
rubyslippersreads And your cat is gorgeous. 😻😻😻 7y

HKGirl Yes! I have a special place in my heart for middle grade fiction. Even though I think YA was a thing when I was a teen, it just didn't appeal to me that much. 7y
Tamra There has just been an explosion of great middle grade fiction and YA! I‘m so impressed in general with “children‘s” lit. (edited) 7y
Prairiegirl_reading Me too!!! 7y
DebinHawaii Middle grade fiction is fun! 👍📚 7y
Amanda.T I love middle grade too! It‘s comfort reading for me. 7y
mrp27 Me too! 7y
LauraBeth @LeahBergen I‘m not a big fan either. I‘m like @rubyslippersreads - I don‘t enjoy dystopian fiction or the plain girl who is the queen or the assassin. I like kids figuring out their place in the world in messed up families and then adults trying to figure out where it all went wrong 😀 7y
LauraBeth @rubyslippersreads gray cat says thank you for the compliment 😽 7y
LauraBeth @HKGirl I do too! 😀 7y
LauraBeth @Tamra there really has been! 7y
LauraBeth @DebinHawaii it‘s a lot of fun 🙌 7y
LauraBeth @Amanda.T same! It‘s like wrapping a cozy blanket around me and giving me some hot tea 😀 7y
LauraBeth @mrp27 oh I know you do! I‘ve identified the middle fiction readers on Litsy and always see what you‘re reading 😀 7y
Tamra @LauraBeth not a dystopia fan either. Sometimes MG is just plain fun, with interesting characters. I‘m thrilled that my son is now getting into this range! (edited) 7y
rubyslippersreads @LauraBeth @Amanda.T I think I'm going to have to check out more MG books. A cozy blanket and hot tea sound wonderful! 😊 7y

Fantastic!! It took me a few chapters to get into the groove, but once I did I couldn't put it down. I hope she writes a third!!
