I'm torn on this one- I actually enjoyed the second half of the book as that was where the action was. Absolutely detested the main character of Tess, who was so sanctimonious and just seemed to complain or self pity through most of the book. Loved the character of Sean, I think he's the only one that I liked. Decent ending, should have been a bit quicker at the start.

Good God Tess is the most irritating character! 😒

Guessed the murderer in this pretty much from the start of this book. There are a couple of twists that will keep you interested though.

Once upon a time, two girls went into the woods and only one came out....
Sister stories have been a theme for me this month. I enjoyed this one a lot! A riviting psychological thriller. Savage does a great job here! It's tightly plotted, atmospheric, suspenseful, with satisfying twists and turns. I loved the family dynamics a lot too and Tess was a great unreliable narrator, which always makes for a compelling read. #bookreview

The story jumps from present day to the past allowing the details to be slowly filled in. I figured out who killed Bella fairly early on and just about solved the other mysteries through the book. I have to say though I just couldn't get myself to like Tess, her decisions at times made me want to scream. I did warm to Sean in the end though. but I'm not really a fan of the unreliable narrator. #TeamSlaughter #scarathlon2020

I really enjoyed the first half of this book, but it got pretty tedious after that. I wanted to know what happened but the lead character was not like able AT ALL, which makes it difficult to care about her. By the time everything unfolds it‘s a real mess.

I have a super busy day today and forgot my book at home. Fortunately I had a couple I hadn‘t brought he yet at work, so I‘m starting The Woods a little earlier than anticipated.
