A pulse-pounding, high-concept new thriller from the author of the "propulsive and original" instant New York Times bestseller The Chain (Stephen King).

Just okay for me. This started out really strong and I was really invested and then it just fell off for me. It didn‘t really feel like there was much to it that was super unique for this type of a story. It felt a bit predictable and the ending fell flat for me. It was interesting to a certain point, but I didn‘t love this one.

Fast paced page turner! I really enjoyed this book, I had no idea what the story line was before I started reading and was pleasantly surprised. Will definitely read more of Adrian Mckinty!

🌟🌟1/2 Read this for what it is a mindless thriller for vacations by the pool. It was a page turner, but completely eye roll stuff here. Unbelievable people making absolutely the stupidest decisions. Disappointed that we never learn more about the crazies and why they were the way they were.

What a thrilling tale of a family trip gone terribly wrong! A little predictable maybe, but the pace was great, the details fleshed out, and the narration was fantastic. #bookspinBingo @TheAromaofBooks

Book 151🎧 3⭐️

Not my favourite island book to date but I love a strong female lead👏🏻👏🏻

After a tragic accident, a family is trapped on an island inhabited by one family… and they aren‘t happy to have company.

A fast-paced, brutal, bloody thriller. Definitely easy to inhale this one in a few sittings. The final 100 pages didn‘t totally work for me, but I appreciate the twists and turns they contained.

I had such high expectations for this one and it truly fell flat for me. The characters were horrid and made such bad choices and the dialogue was awful. The only thing that kept me reading was the short, fast-paced chapters and me just needing to know how this would resolve. The ending was so rushed and abrupt that even that was unsatisfying. The whole thing just felt thrown together. I can see why people are enjoying it but just not for me. 🌟🌟

After moving from a small country town to Seattle, Heather Baxter marries Tom, a widowed doctor with a young son and teenage daughter. A working vacation overseas seems like the perfect way to bring the new family together, but once they‘re deep in the Australian outback, the jet-lagged and exhausted kids are so over their new mom.

EadieB When they discover remote Dutch Island, off-limits to outside visitors, the family talks their way onto the ferry, taking a chance on an adventure far from the reach of iPhones and Instagram.
But as soon as they set foot on the island, which is run by a tightly knit clan of locals, everything feels wrong. Then a shocking accident propels the Baxters from an unsettling situation into an absolute nightmare.
2y
EadieB When Heather and the kids are separated from Tom, they are forced to escape alone, seconds ahead of their pursuers.
Now it‘s up to Heather to save herself and the kids, even though they don‘t trust her, the harsh bushland is filled with danger, and the locals want her dead.
2y
EadieB Heather has been underestimated her entire life, but she knows that only she can bring her family home again and become the mother the children desperately need, even if it means doing the unthinkable to keep them all alive. 2y

EadieB This was an action-packed thriller with interesting characters. The page-turner plot was very entertaining. There were twists and turns that I did not see coming that pushed things over the edge. If you like action thrillers then you would enjoy this one. 2y

Oh. My. Gosh. This one was absolutely unputdownable! I read the last 75% of it in one sitting. After The Chain and now this one, Adrian McKinty is on my insta-buy list!

3½⭐Basically a pick for the entertainment value.
•The O'Neil's were channeling the Fratelli‘s (from Goonies) in this one.
•Tom will never earn the Father-of-the-year-award.
•Why did Heather marry Tom…smh?
•Triggers for animal deaths.
•While this had many things wrong with it…I still found it freakishly & oddly entertaining. Once I was past the halfway mark.
•Where did Hans & Leisel come from? I somehow missed what brought them to the island.

This was quite the thriller. I liked it because I love the heroine kicking ass but some of it seemed like it could've ever so differently if she hadn't done some of the things she'd done. Nevertheless, this is a thriller and soon to be Netflix series! ⭐⭐⭐💫

I ordered this one as soon as it came out because The Chain will always be in my best books of all time. But I was sadly really disappointed by this one. It is fast paced and kept me turning the pages. But I had to really suspend my disbelief on this one. There were way too many things that was coincidentally in the MC favor, and things she did that she just wouldn't have known how to do.. wish I loved this one more. 2.5/5

So creepy good! Family trip to an Australian island to see indigenous animals turns into an accident/nightmare/kidnapping. This one kept me on the edge of my seat for hours! Had loved his novel The Chain so I knew this was worth it!

This is a violent, heart pounding thriller that has a young woman and two children trying to survive and escape from a small island off the coast of Australia and evade a family seeking revenge. I really enjoyed seeing the woman and the children find new strengths and the relationship between them improve. The book is pure entertainment and not surprisingly has been picked up to be a limited TV series by Hulu. 4/5 stars.

Like The Chain, this fast-paced thriller was certainly entertaining, and in the moment I found it enjoyable. However, the way McKinty focuses on the action of his stories makes me crave just a bit more explanation on characters and plot choices.

Great read for the upcoming summer months when you want something entertaining that doesn't make you think too much.

🎧 WILD RIDE!

Tom‘s new wife is significantly younger & disliked by his 10 & 14 year old kids.

Working vacation across the globe, maybe the family will come together.

Last minute visit to a private island where a horrific accident turns a possible moment in paradise into a nightmare, a hostage situation then a chase that escalates from there.

Great thriller with horror aspects.

Wonderful popcorn entertainment!
Satisfying ending.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

vivastory Just a few weeks ago I was thinking about how when his book The Chain was released & everyone was talking about it. Sounds like a good summer read. 3y
Twainy @vivastory this one was similar in pace & suspense & scary factor as The Chain. Different premise but same feel? 3y
