This is cute. I mean it's about the environment and how evil men rule the world, but it's just not that complicated. There are Easter eggs from The Change. If you like this author, which I do, definitely go for it.

Love Ali Hazelwood! Loved the Italian setting and the two MCs as well! And Eli and Rue from Not in Love are part of the cast of characters 😆

In September 1982, 19-year-old Ricardo Melogno murdered four taxi drivers in the span of a week. He was arrested within weeks and has spent his life in prison and psych units. Thirty years after the crimes, he sat down with the author for several conversations, which resulted in this book. Melogno has served his full sentence but authorities won‘t release him under the fear he may be a threat to society.

JoeMo Melogno himself admits that a significant reason he is not free is the fact he cannot explain why he committed the crimes. At the time of the interviews he seemed to accept his fate. What intrigued me was how casual or ordinary the conversations seemed to be in tone. It was also interesting to get the perspective of a clinician who had been working with Melogno for several years at the time of the interviews. 5h

I wasn't overly impressed with this one. It felt like a bunch of rom com movies thrown together but possibly without an actual romance.

I thought this was excellent. The author takes Mexican folklore and turns it into a mystery about missing girls. There's a lot of Spanish which might be my only caution if you don't speak Spanish. It slowed my pace some but others might find it difficult.

Unless something really unexpected happens this weekend, this is definitely going to be a blackout! Which is pretty exciting.

I keep thinking about what I want to put on September's card, buuut there's a solid chance I'm going to finish two of those books this weekend, so plans might have to rearrange, ahaha.
