Korede's sister Ayoola's boyfriends keep dying. Korede starts to worry when Ayoola is attracted to Tade, a doctor Korede works with and likes. Korede shares all of her thoughts and secrets to a patient in a coma - who wakes up. Ayoola's incredible narcissism and Korede constantly getting dumped on by everyone in her life wore me out. The background on the sisters parents did help explain their relationship. ⬇️

bthegood Overall, a good story and I enjoyed how the story was told, the main characters just got on my nerves (except the guy in the coma) and it wasn't as witty or “fun“ as I thought it would be.

Here‘s how I did on the #awesomeapril readathon:

📚Met my goal of finishing Arrogant Playboy and finished reading the Arrogant trilogy

📚Read 1 book from my #bookspinbingo list from last month when the numbers were drawn

📚Started another book from my #bookspinbingo list. I knew I wasn‘t going to finish it on the last day of the readathon but I‘ve at least started it.

This was my first time participating.

This hockey romance just didn‘t do it for me.?.there were some things that got on my nerves. No one should call someone else “love” all the freaking time unless they‘re British. A lot of the dialogue seemed unnatural. And I wanted to throw the book across the room every time either character said they were addicted to the other. Actually now that I‘ve typed this, I‘m not sure why I finished it. 🤷🏻‍♀️

TheAromaofBooks I definitely have books that I finish and find myself wondering why I did so 😂 But that's a shame - I was just thinking how lovely the cover is!! 20h

Jewell always manages to hook me in. While the ending made this one a soft pick for me, the pacing was great. I appreciated that Alix's ignoring of major red flags felt like a natural progression here - she's just too far into the story to back down now. I like my fiction tied with a bow, so some of the ambiguity at the end annoyed me (plus one major plot point wasn't how I would have gone so), but overall I couldn't stop turning pages.

julieclair Glad you enjoyed it! Mostly. 😉 18h
TheAromaofBooks @vlwelser - Oh what a fun idea, to all read the same book. Gives you something to talk about at work 😂 She's a great author for that. I feel like she creates situations for her characters that really leave you wondering what you would do if you were in that position - bad choices are made, but they feel like reasonable bad choices. 6h
vlwelser All of the bad choices. Who knew there could be SO many. I swear my intern spent that entire book gasping and swearing at it in Spanish. We often pass a book around. This was the first time it was a library book. I highly recommend it if you end up with a group of readers you spend a lot of time with. 5h

This was a fun book if you're a fan of the show. Porter worked for “New Top Gear“ as the script editor during all the seasons that Clarkson, May, and Hammond were the presenters. The book is roughly linear but divided into very short chapters that each kind of read like their own little essay, so at times it felt a little abrupt, but also meant that it was easy to delve in and out of. As you'd expect, the writing is a bit snarky and entertaining⬇

TheAromaofBooks (cont'd) Porter presents his coworkers, including the three famous presenters, with a fairly even hand, and the book feels genuinely informative/entertaining and not like its trying to cash in on scandalous memoirs, even when he discusses the abrupt ending of the show (in that incarnation). I'm not British, so some of the references went over my head (TV shows “everyone“ watched or people more famous there than here), but overall this was ⬇ 23h
TheAromaofBooks (cont'd) readable and enjoyable - if you like the show, you'll probably find this engaging as well.

This was my #BookSpin for April 🎉

InkedBookworm13 This is awesome. I just ordered it for my husband. We used to watch the original Top Gear all the time. 😍 16h
TheAromaofBooks @lil1inblue @InkedBookworm13 - My biggest issue with the book was that Porter seems to assume that I already know who some people are (i.e. famous racecar drivers, actors, British politicians) so some of his stories kind of went over my head. But overall there is a lot of fun stuff here and an interesting perspective. 6h
Jari-chan Oh, we had so much fun with Top Gear 😁 5h
Roary47 I‘ll have to get this for my husband to not read, and then read it for him. 😅 4h

Finished this over breakfast at my favorite cafe. I love this story and really never knowing what‘s going to happen next. The final pages were such a flurry of action too! Now the wait for the next volume begins…. #bookspinbingo #doublespin

Here‘s my review for a book I just finished reading. This is the second book I‘ve read for #awesomeapril. This will also count for #bookspinbingo. This book was picked last month when the numbers were drawn so now, I can cross this one off my #bookspin list and be done with it. It was interesting but I‘m not going to reread it. Reading it once was enough for me.
