I love Charlotte Stein and I loved this book. Alfie and Mable are so lovely, funny and awkward and the friendship they develop along the way is just sweet. Plus I love a good fake dating story and this one really delivers #romantsy

My romance fix for March. Like a bag of candy eaten in one sitting, it‘s good while it lasts, but also not craving any more any time soon.
It was a fun read overall. The characters were amusing, the banter in Manchester accent kept me reading. There was more spice than I expected, but somehow it was explicit without being super vulgar. Some character inconsistency here and there, some repetition. The usual. I enjoyed it for what it was.
Do I kind of hate this title? Yes. Is it apt? Certainly. Was I charmed by Mabel and Alfie and how they almost instantly realized the other was everything they ever wanted, even if they didn't admit it until the fricking epilogue? 1000%. Not perfect, but definitely a good time. #contemporaryromance #romcom #tedlassovibes
Ex-Footballer Alfie and writer Mabel meet when Alfie is shopping for a ghostwriter for his memoirs. Their first meeting doesn't go well. Neither does their second,...
I really liked the audiobook version of this romcom. I fell for the narrator's voice and the North English accents.
The chapter headlines were funny and interesting, they made me continue listening to the book although I had planned to not devour the book in one go.⬇️
Low pick
Yikes! I do not take DNF lightly but When Grumpy Met Sunshine was just not for me. Flat and uninteresting banter gave me nothing to be excited about. All I could think about was what book I could be reading instead. So I took that as a sign to DNF and move on. Better luck to the next reader! #LitsyLoveReads
Thank you NetGalley and St Martin‘s Press for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
A curvy, bubbly ghostwriter finds herself in a fake dating scheme with a grumpy footballer a la Ted Lasso‘s Roy Kent in this rom-com about being yourself and embracing your softness that‘s as HOT as it is hilarious! Highly recommended for fans of grumpy/sunshine pairs, Cinderella/celebrity romances, when it‘s painfully obvious they‘re head over cleats in LOVE but they‘re total utter numpties/silly gooses about it, and absolutely FILTHY dirty talk.
