"Rachel Reid's hockey heroes are sexy, hot, and passionate!" --#1 New York Times bestselling author Lauren Blakely From the USA TODAY bestselling author of the Game Changers series comes a merry and bright hockey romance about finding your place, finding your people and finding your way back to the one you love the most. For Landon Stackhouse, being called up from the Calgary farm team is exciting and terrifying, even if, as the backup goalie, he rarely leaves the bench. A quiet loner by nature, Landon knows he gives off strong "don't talk to me" vibes. The only player who doesn't seem to notice is Calgary's superstar young winger, Casey Hicks. Casey treats Landon like an old friend, even though they've only interacted briefly in the past. He's endlessly charming and completely laid-back in a way that Landon absolutely can't relate to. They couldn't have less in common, but Landon needs a place to live that's not a hotel room and Casey has just bought a massive house--and hates being alone. As roommates, Casey refuses to be defeated by Landon's one-word answers. As friends, Landon comes to notice a few things about Casey, like his wide, easy smile and sparkling green-blue eyes. Spending the holidays together only intensifies their bromance-turned-romance. But as the new year approaches, the countdown to the end of Landon's time in Calgary is on.

My hold came in and I dropped all the other books I was reading and gobbled this one up. A delicious m/m romance full of all the feels and spice 🌶️. I‘m probably the only Canadian who doesn‘t watch hockey at all but I still enjoyed this sweet romance between the star player and the newbie goalie. It‘s fun that it‘s set in Calgary because I visit there every year. 👍👍💚🐉

I finished this a couple of weeks ago, almost forgot to post a review. Rachel Reid is the queen of the m/m hockey romance world. This one is very enjoyable, but not in the same league as her Game Changers series.

lauraisntwilder The last time we were at Barnes & Noble, my son (who plays hockey) saw a m/f hockey/figure skating romance on display and was so confused why the two leads weren't both male. He said, "I mean...it's a full contact sport." ? I'll have to tell him about this one! 2mo
CarolynM @lauraisntwilder 😂I like his thinking. You can reassure him there are a LOT of m/m hockey romances out there. 2mo

Another winner from @Lin3han #AuldLangSpine list. I‘m not a huge romance reader, but I‘ve found that I‘m down for queer grumpy/sunshine books every so often. I adored both Landon and Casey, appreciated having bisexual and (implied) demi-sexual rep, and loved being in a world where the characters‘ sexuality was just accepted - no homophobia. I also liked that while there was drama, it was never too stressful. A cozy read! And great audio narration!

Lin3han I agree with everything you said!! I LOVE that there wasn‘t homophobia and it was just lovely. 3mo

Minor league hockey player Landon Stackhouse is pulled up to the NHL and meets superstar Cacey Hicks. He‘s offered a place to stay with Casey and they both wonder if their bromance could turn into romance.

Such a funny read! I absolutely adored their dynamic. I always like when a Queer romance is just lovely without focusing on discrimination. This book made me laugh out loud multiple times! 4/5! #readitandwreath #wintergames

This was a totally delightful romantic comedy featuring the sweetest couple of NHL hockey players. The humour was great, there was definitely some spice and you could not help root for these guys. The author manages to make it a wonderful read, without being overly saccharine. I also appreciated that the author had the team members be super supportive of the couple, as one would hope they would be in real life. Great escapist reading 4/5!

After a sad book needed something light-hearted so I choose this from my Netgalley. Yes it does have family member death for the most part it's a happy read.

But mainly I loved how everyone from team mates to family are so supportive. And how Landon and Casey are to very different people but treat each other with respect and compassion.

Did I see the ending coming from a mile away? Yes but I expect a Happy Every After when reading romance.

Rachel Reid is my favourite romance writer because she delivers books you can‘t wait to get back to. True to form, TIME TO SHINE is a hockey romance to wallow and revel and delight in.

Reid always brings the cute, but this time it feels so, so central. I laughed early and often at Casey and Landon‘s adorable, chemistry-laden conversations. Their mutual affection ZINGS, right from the start. ⬇️

xicanti While there‘re some darker elements too, like raw grief and an intense phobia, the pure joy they take in each other makes this an uplifting, feel-good read.

It‘s also much lower heat than Reid‘s earlier books. I read Landon as either demi or grey ace (he‘s not sure on his labels himself), and while they do have on-page sex, it comes later in the story and plays a relatively small part in their relationship. ⬇️

xicanti Also of note: Christmas happens, so this is technically a holiday romance, but there‘s enough other stuff going on that you don‘t have to wait until November or December to dive in. You wanna grab this delight of a book as soon as it drops on September 26th.

I LOVED IT SO MUCH, Y‘ALL. 4.5 stars.

I wasn‘t able to finish TIME TO SHINE last night as planned because I had a belated birthday feast with my family! I ate my weight in delicious Chinese cuisine and got to enjoy leftover Hunan style lotus root for breakfast while I read another chunk of this awesome and delightful book. I can‘t wait to polish it off at lunch and wrangle all my excitement into a coherent review.

Still loving TIME TO SHINE! I‘ll probably finish it today, with Casey‘s help—which is especially appropriate because one of the leads shares his name, and Hockey Player Casey reminds me a lot of Dog Casey. He‘s a delight of a person, just like my Casey‘s a delight of a dog.

I couldn‘t resist starting Rachel Reid‘s September release last night, with help from these two capable reading buddies. It‘s building towards a Christmas vacation, so I guess I‘m doing Christmas in July this year!

As expected from Reid, my favourite romance writer, it‘s instantly moreish. She‘s so, so good at pulling the reader inside her characters‘ emotional landscapes, and she delivers lots and lots and LOTS of cute bits. I‘m happy.
