I think this would be fun to use when teaching a poetry lesson to inspire kids, because I think they would relate and pay a lot of attention to this humor.
This is another book of small poems and stories that are funny and creative. The author uses words in ways that are creative and funny for adults and children.

This P book is great for a RA in the classroom. This book has many silly poems that would interest the students and it even has a great variety of poems. My personal favorite was Deep In Our Refrigerator which talked about the food that you leave and let get all moldy because you don't want to throw it away which I can relate to. You can find the author's website at http://jackprelutsky.com/

I would use this in a younger classroom setting to introduce young children to poetry and rhyming.
This poetry book is a great way to introduce children to poetry. The use of rhyming throughout helps children follow along. The rhyming pattern is very simple so it is suitable for a younger crowd. This book is very playful and filled with poems that are both silly and engaging!
This poem uses the AA BB rhyme scheme and it has a very natural sounding flow throughout the stanzas. It also uses personification when talking about bunnies driving buses.
I think this book, especially this poem specifically, would be helpful in a classroom. It has examples of simple rhymes that can help introduce children to poetry and rhyme.

This book is entertaining and silly. I‘m sure young children would spend tons of time reading this.
The language is fun and engaging. The jokes keep kids entertained. The topics of the poems are new and unique and so fun.
It‘s raining pigs and noodles, it‘s pouring frogs and hats, chrysanthemums and poodles, bananas, brooms, and cats.
This poetry book seems like nonsense at first glance. But it‘s nonsense that kids will love and allow them to dip their toes into poetry.
This would be perfect to start younger kids off with! Or even children who are older that have been turned off from poetry or can‘t find anything they like or have a hard time understanding it. These poems are super silly and may even inspire some kids.
Sometimes you need to feed the kid-poet inside you. #friend #poetrymatters @LazyDays

Taking it easy with 4th grade for #PoetryWednesday I try to balance out the heavy and the light. Part of the point is that poetry can be anything you want it to be.
