I‘m working my way through all of Kristin Harmel‘s books. This is the 7th. She‘s definitely one of my faves. This one is a bit lighter fare than some of the others. Not a bad thing, for sometime we need some light. The characters were likable even though flawed. The story was wrapped up in the end. Not all the characters got their happily ever after but Kristin shows respect to them and to the reader by giving them all closure.

This author is one of my go to's when I want a touching historical fiction read. This is the 10th anniversary of this book being available to readers. It still holds up over the decade since I read it the first time. 🌟🌟🌟🌟 read. @bookspin @TheAromaofBooks

This was my first book by Kristin Harmel. I absolutely loved it. It was a beautiful story. A woman who has been running her family‘s bakery is asked by her ailing grandmother to go to Paris and track down the truth about her family history. She learns that everything she thought she knew was totally different from the truth and that love does overcome everything. I highly recommend this book and look forward to reading more by this author.

This one started out pretty strong and had the potential to be a 4-5 star read but it fell a bit short for me. I found the protagonist to be rather irritating. I also couldn‘t help but be annoyed at the number of times “murmured” was used in the dialogue. It seems every spoken word was “murmured.” Maybe I‘m being nitpicky but it‘s a pet peeve of mine when a word is used too frequently in a book, and in this case it was used probably 100 times.

Looking forward to starting this one today. Has anyone read it??

A beautiful and bittersweet story that crosses four generations of women in the setting of a traditional family bakery that weaves together past and present taking you on a reflective journey about love, second chance, sacrifice, discovery, family and legacy that will leave you filled with hope and sadness all at once.

Don‘t be fooled by the beautiful cover, this isn‘t a light read. Set against a backdrop of WWII there is a lock of heartbreak.

I was interested to read this even though it seems like a Nicholas Sparks book (no offense-just not my type) and while parts of the story are very interesting much of it is predictable.

Why, why do I always choose books to read at work that render me in tears by the end?? This was a beautifully written story about our lineage and history and the power of love in difficult times. From modern day Massachusetts to Wartime, Nazi occupied France in the 1940s, I felt as though I was in Paris at the Eiffel Tower or listening to the waves on Cape Cod. Second Harmel book I have read and I loved it just as much as the first. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Day after New Year's reading

Wasn't as I was expecting, from the cover I was expecting a light fluffy read but this book is far from that. It's deep and takes you from America in the twenty first century to Paris in WW2. I didn't particularly like the characters but the story line was brilliant and kept me reading.

Starting this one tonight. I've only read one other of hers but it was really good!
