Who can resist a story about the joys of reading? Clara finds such pleasure in the beauty of Proust‘s writing that it literally changes her life, taking her in a direction she would never have imagined. I liked the other people in the salon too. It reminded me why I enjoyed reading Proust, but also why I didn‘t make in beyond the 5th volume. Another pick from @TheKidUpstairs ‘s #AuldLangSpine list!

Sace It‘s true about Proust changing your life! 😂 2mo
TheKidUpstairs I've never read Proust, but I fell in love with Clara's delight in discovery, and how falling in love with reading Proust made her open herself up to so many possibilities. 2mo
Tamra Wow - what a cover! 😍 2mo
DrSabrinaMoldenReads I loved “In Search of Lost Time”! I must read this! Thanks! 1mo

3⭐️ It was okay; it felt a bit too convoluted at times. #2024 #fiction #booksaboutbooks #translation #contemporary

This short novel was quiet, thoughtful, strange, and relaxing. It follows a young woman who is trying to find her place in the world and stumbles upon the works of Proust and they change her life. I really enjoyed it! #BookspinBingo @TheAromaofBooks

What a beautiful little book. Charming, thoughtful, and so very, very French. Clara, a young hairdresser, falls in love with Proust, with words, and with the way a beautifully written book can transport you.

You do not have to have read Proust to fall in love with this novella (lord knows I haven't). Carlier manages to evoke a love for the text without ever judging those who haven't read it.

TheKidUpstairs I'd venture a guess most Littens can relate to Clara's passion and her reading journey. This sort but impactful read gave me everything I was hoping for but never got when I read The Novel Bookstore with #EuropaCollective. Pure love of wonderful literature, without the unnecessary snobbishness. 7mo

Excited that Clara Reads Proust made it into Anne Bogel‘s Summer Reading Guide! It‘s such a lovely book about the power of reading. A young woman who‘s feeling a bit stuck in her romantic relationship and her hairdressing career picks up Proust‘s first novel, Swann‘s Way, and it changes everything…

Graciouswarriorprincess I miss her reading guide. I just can‘t afford to subscribe to it but I loved it when it came out. 7mo

I love unexpected connections.

Just finished All Fours for #CampLitsy24 and the epigraph of my next read seems like it could be used for the July as well!

Completed my June #BookSpin and #DoubleSpin. Loved Clara, and tolerated The Writing Retreat. I had high hopes but it just fell flat for me. Better luck next month! #BookSpinBingo

AnneCecilie Clare sounds interesting, especially since I‘ve read Proust. 8mo

LeslieO @AnneCecilie You would probably enjoy it even more. I did read Swann‘s Way in college but I remember nothing! 8mo
