Well, this was a long book where not much happens, but I stayed interested. I really do like immigrant stories - no mystery, thrill, bits of magic, or expected HEA - just people living their lives in countries to which their parents were not born.

I read this book as I loved Pachinko so much. This is another fantastic book from the author. They say books create a vision, this was like watching a TV series every time I read it. I need more from this author!!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I really enjoyed this book—interweaving the stories of a Korean American woman and several of her friends, partners, and family members in New York in the 1990s. There was a lot going on, and I felt like it ended abruptly with a few story lines and themes unresolved, but I enjoyed it and@tore through it in a couple of days.
I finished this chunker as part of a buddy read. I kind of dreaded reading it at the start but as I got more into it, I was glad I stuck with it. It's VERY character driven. A beautiful book about classism, racism, family, culture, success, & happiness. I ended up really enjoying this story about a Korean family & community & the complicated relationships that hold us together. ⭐⭐⭐⭐
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Love this book! It was my second time reading it. It was as gripping and poignant as the first time I read it. I love that not everything gets wrapped up in a bow at the end. The characters are so realistic. The writing is smooth and the story keeps moving. Even though it‘s a long read, it‘s so engrossing that you keep turning the page. Thank you #sundaybuddyread for a great discussion once again and giving me a chance to reread this.
#BookReport. Only finish of the week is the tagged book. Fast read for a chunkster. 3.75 🌟 Didn‘t have much free time and settling on something still seems to be an issue.
#WeeklyForecast: I will likely finish Maps of our Spectacular Bodies on audio and another in Victoria Thompson‘s Gaslight series. Beyond that I haven‘t a clue.
Today is my #Litsyversary and earlier this month I caught the rollover to 50K. Thanks to all Littens everywhere.
Thanks to @TheBookHippie for this SundayBuddyRead pick!🤗 I‘m bad about staying with chunksters so I probably wouldn‘t have picked it on my own, but I ended up really enjoying it. I immediately rooted for (& yelled at A LOT) the MC, Korean American, Casey Han, in this somewhat coming of age story set in 90s NYC. The author made me care about Casey, her friends & family told in a big soapy (in a good way) fashion. Maybe I‘ll finally read Pachinko!
I can‘t believe how invested I was in the characters of this story! Some I loved with all my heart and some I wished 1000 deaths on 🤣🤣 just a fantastic coming into adulthood story, making mistakes, finding your path, earning your way ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
This is why I came to Chicago. My kid and his teammates sailing today. I got onto the photographer‘s boat and spent the whole day on the water. Now I‘m back in my hotel and starting the tagged book.
I thoroughly enjoyed this one! A coming of age type story of Casey Han, a Korean American girl navigating her post graduate life in New York. Not only do we follow Casey but her family members, friends, and influential people in her life in a style reminiscent of classics like Les Mis and Anna Karenina. I felt all the emotions reading this; good and bad. Would recommend! One I wouldn‘t have picked up if not for #sundaybuddyread ❤️
The week got away from me, I‘ve got to get caught up for #sundaybuddyreads tomorrow
