so-so

This was interesting but I feel kind of let down? The made up mythology is super intriguing but the writing was kind of boring? Just feel really so-so about this one.

Libby1 I really hated this one. There was so much racism running throughout. I understand that it‘s of it‘s time, but I thought it was a major theme and not an undertone. 5y

Malisa @Libby1 yeah, that's another thing. I found it a bit off putting because of that as well. I think I prefer a lot of the stuff that came out of it instead of the actual story itself. 5y

I think I'm more of a fan of Lovecraftian inspired stories than actual Lovecraft. The premise is interesting, if told in a very different style than it would be today, and I never felt hooked by the story. Mostly the narrator tells you how horrifying everything is rather than letting you feel it.

I also find it impossible to separate the work from the author's xenophobia and racism, which obviously affects my feelings on it.

Gezemice I could not stand this story. Mostly because of what you said. However, not being a fan of creepy stories to begin with, I found mo redeeming quality in it whatsoever... 5y

BekahB I agree! I enjoy the space he created in weird fiction but I really prefer to see what other people do with it. 🐙 5y
