I finished this book just before the new year. And it was the perfect book for it. It‘s a reminder that the new year will be decided.

Sigh. Not a lot new to be gleaned from this book but perhaps bc the wound that is the ‘24 election is still fresh. I hope years from now it shows a true inflection point for the US. Only time will tell.
Finishing this makes my yearly total 94. Not bad by any means, even if it is short of my 💯 Goal.
Happy New Year, Litsy pals. I hope the year ahead is kind to us all. We deserve it.

If there is one quote in all this that I can genuinely understand, it‘s this one. Growing up in a mixed race household is never easy. And she is a better woman than I am. #kamalaharris #saiditwithherfullchest

Wasnt planning for the tagged to most likely be my Christmas week read but when your library hold comes in, you gotta answer the call 🤷🏻♀️

I wondered through this book if I‘d have the same empathy reaction to her book if I hadn‘t supported her in the beginning. It‘s not entirely a platform defining book, but an explanation of the gigantic lift it took to run a presidential campaign for 107 days. It humanized Harris- both her strengths and her flaws. It‘s a book to read and discuss, beyond her politics, but just the whole election that was so chaotic.

It took me all month to read this just because I knew the ending, and it‘s so easy to judge in hindsight. I‘m glad I persevered though because the afterword was excellent. #NonfictionNovember

Starting the day that President Joe Biden announces he is not running for a second term, VP Kamala Harris takes the reader through probably the most historic presidential campaigns in history.
I listened to it during a particularly rough patch with the current administration so it was a bit like pouring salt in the wound, but it was interesting to learn what it took for Harris & her team to take a campaign from 0 to 100 in no time.

Two quotes from my reading this morning:
From Kamala‘s mother
“Kamala, don‘t ever let anyone tell you who you are. You tell them who you are.”
From Angela Merkel
“Don‘t you ever let them make you cry.”

I doubt I'll read the book, but her conversation with Jon Stewart is wonderful. He is perhaps the most generous interviewer, as you can see throughout their conversation that he leads her from seemingly rehearsed to relaxed and honest, even more so than she has proven to be, and he give serious consideration to her questions back. He even gets her cursing over the Drumpf “ballroom“ 😅 ⬇

I was afraid to read this book knowing it would bring back the agonizing grief of the election aftermath. But after hearing Kamala‘s voice again, I am feeling empowered! I love her candor, no holds barred reflections & personal stories. Kamala reminds us of what matters most—a democracy for ALL people. “Our spirit is not defeated. It may take a while, but the fight for our country is always worth it. And we will win.” 💙✊🏻💙

Harris pours out on every page the trials, tribulations, & occasional triumphs of running the shortest presidential campaign in history.I wish the results had been different. We are losing democracy and all the victories for justice, inclusion, and, the chance for a decent life folks .

Despite knowing (all too well) how it turns out, I was gripped every single minute. She names names, and she doesn‘t even shy away from an “I told you so” in the Afterword. It‘s an authentic and intimate account of a pivotal moment in history, well deserving of its place on any shelf. Full review: https://keepingupwiththepenguins.com/107-days-kamala-harris/

Just finished listening to this! I really enjoyed hearing her perspective about the campaign and how things unfolded. She ran a hell of a race in a short amount of time. It was grueling but she kept going. I wish every single day that she had come out on top. As much as I enjoyed hearing about life on the campaign trail I loved what she had to say at the end.

Just finished listening to Kamala Harris‘s firsthand account of her run for president. When I got to the acknowledgments, where she thanked every American who voted for her, I felt the weight of the last eleven months. It‘s been hard. I will never understand giving him the keys for a second time. I will never forget.

WOWZERS!!! guess ive got time to work on my tbr in the meantime lol… #waitingpatiently #libraryholds #readinglife

“As president, there were so much more I could do. I wanted to see Gen Z given the tools they needed to become a new Greatest Generation, and I had so many ideas on how to help them…I wanted to change the way we think about our workforce, to assign value based on an individual‘s skill… all these things, and so much more, all grounded in the fundamental values of dignity, fairness, and opportunity.”
We could‘ve had that. Instead…JFC. SERIOUSLY?!!

I‘m glad she‘s still speaking, and I‘m glad to have read this, bittersweet as it was. Was definitely a comfort hearing her voice narrate the audiobook. (Still haven‘t had the heart to take the pictured off of my office wall.)

I felt every, single emotion while reading this, from one extreme to the other, and everything in between. I was back in the headspace of the fall of 2024 with the feelings of hope and optimism. She didn‘t have to write this, but she did and I‘m so glad to read her thoughts on her historic presidential campaign. My only wish is that there was a better ending 💔

Because B&N gift cards beg to be spent ! 😄

Forgot I'd pre-ordered this and it was waiting for me at the mailbox. Perfect time to sit down and start reading it as well.💙🩵

My copy of Kamala Harris‘s 107 Days came today and I thought I was ready. I opened the book to look at the pictures, and am now in tears. Boy did this country F up! This is devastating.
