A great suspense! A university professor starts feeling pain in her wrist. The twist is that she has a bullet in her neck she never knew about. As her physicians begin to see the urgency of getting it removed, she instead is on a search for answers from her childhood. Lots of twists.

I was so curious about this book because it was written by an NPR anchor. You can definitely tell she‘s a reporter because of the way the main character goes about trying to solve her mystery, and the roles that reporters and newspapers play in the story. It was interesting to me, but the main character also made some bad choices! I listened to this and didn‘t care for the narration. She was good at voices but way too slow!

This book is excellent! Great story, immediate hook, and not overly "romancey". The author plays with her readers emotions throughout the book and just when I thought I knew what was going to happen, the story veered sharply and surprised me. Suspense novels can be overly dramatic and authors often rely on suspense to allow for some literary laziness - there is NONE of that in this book! Highly recommend!

I had some cozy companions with me while finishing this thriller this morning. Not sure why I haven't heard more hype about this book. It was very good! It's about a 37-year-old professor who discovers she has a bullet lodged in her neck from a childhood she doesn't remember. The way the plot unfolded kept me guessing til the very end. Not without its flaws, but absolutely worth a read!

Jenshootsweddings I liked this one a lot! 8y
LiteraryinPA @Jenshootsweddings Do you remember the end? I thought it was weird how her doctor Will suddenly left his wife and wanted to be with her. That seemed very implausible. But otherwise I liked it! 8y
Jenshootsweddings @LiteraryinLititz I forgot that part! Now that you mention it, I remember loving the story right up until the very end and saying "wait, what?" 8y

Caroline Cashion has an MRI and the tech asks her how long she's had the bullet in her neck. Caroline thinks the tech has lost her mind, until her parents reveal the big secret. She's Caroline Smith, their adopted daughter, whose birth parents were murdered when she was 3. And that's just the tip of the iceberg. There was one thing that annoyed me, but the story moved quickly with plenty of twists and good characters. Entertaining - 4 stars.

Cheating this one a bit since I don't have beer or coffee in my house right now. My "brew" is hot chocolate. #bookandbrew #photoadaynov16

Went to my favorite local business for an author event (more on that tomorrow) and received enthusiastic recommendations for this book and all things Preston & Child (whom I have not read 😮). Book people are the best people. ❤️ #parkroadbooks #getindie #bookhaul

I started reading The Bullet on a whim, with no expectations. But I was quickly engrossed in this story of a woman who discovers a bullet has been lodged in her neck since she was a young girl, a wound she can't remember and knew nothing about. I loved that this novel dealt primarily with rich characterization, rather than an action-packed plot.

Books88 Added to my tbr list! Sounds like a good book! 8y

The first book I've managed to finish since early March so for that reason alone it will have a special place in my heart. Thoroughly enjoyed it, almost read it in one sitting.
