As stunning as volume one. Luscious story—and surprising feminine and motherhood storyline for Wakanda. Loved it. Look at this astounding art.

I am determined to finish these today. Book 3 was due back to the library yesterday and I am only in the middle of book 2. I‘ve just been so tired lately.
The new Black Panther comics written by Ta-Nehisi Coates are good, but the movie is so much better. I got a chuckle out of the classic McGregor/Buckler Black Panther Jungle Action comics included as a bonus at the back: show-wrestling costuming, Isaac Hayes reference, and characters named Venomm and Preyy.
@MinDea #humpdaypost 1) just plain old water 2) Parks and Recreation 3) The tagged book, and yes! 4) 30‘s with a little sun 5) right now I just have two holes in each ear, but I used to have my tongue and nose and right under my bottom lip pierced. Tattoos, 4, really 5 one is a cover-up. I want another one. This was fun!! Here‘s Stormy reaching out for my attention #catsoflitsy
Today‘s stack of library holds. Next up: Black Panther, in preparation for seeing the movie tomorrow.
I was up really late last night (because Trevor Noah - YES!! His stand up routine was brilliantly awesome and hilarious). When I got home from restorative yoga I read for a whopping 11 pgs before falling asleep for 2 hours! 😴
I needed a big cup of caffeine get me through this book, lol. But don‘t let my sleepiness fool you; I liked it much more than the first volume!
Hopefully Black Panther doesn‘t mind the Marvel character mug. #comicthon
I have some background in Black Panther comics, but this was still a little hard to follow. I‘m not sure how I feel yet about Ta-Nehisi Coates venture into the comic genre.
But the illustration were outstanding, and the storyline interesting (although kind of confusing), so this gets a pick from me.
Headed to yoga, and hoping to pick up Vol 2 when I get home!

Well I liked this one better then the first, & the artwork is gorgeous, & I love how they are blending myth and legend into futuristic Sci-fi, BUT I still can‘t say it‘s awesome. I‘m beginning to wonder if it‘s Coates, he‘s a great author, but not exactly known for his action/adventure/sci-fi. Maybe they should have tapped Binti‘s Okorafor or The Broken Earth‘s Jemisin instead? I love the world they‘ve created, but this story isn‘t thrilling me.
I want so badly to love this series, but even after the 2nd book I'm still not that invested. I feel like it was marketed as a jumping in point for Black Panther (which is what I wanted w the movie coming up *squee*) but the story felt disjointed, character motivations were unclear, & I still don't really have a great feel for who the characters are beyond their roles. Disappointed but planning to start World of Wakanda by Coates &Roxanne Gay soon
This was a nice continuation of the first book. I like how traditions and folk lore are weaved together with futuristic technology.
Gorgeous art, ambitious theme, a nation fighting for its freedom, a king struggling to find his role, warring factions, stunning women and men, a celebration of African heritage. This is a lovely volume to look at and ponder, however the story is scattered, the writing is heavy and vague. I will be continuing the series, but I wish I would not have to read everything three times in order to follow the story. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Another fantastic volume--I'm really getting into Black Panther. I can't seem to find ANY more in any library service available to me, maybe Vol 3 hasn't been published yet. I find the world of comics a little hard to navigate.
I'm sure many ppl find comics to be inherently cinematic given the visual medium, but I do not. However, I do find this one to be, especially the 2 frames above. I wish I could see all these stories on the big screen.
Hey, #ratbastard, you're being super fucking racist right now--CUT IT OUT!

One last photo of Womankind magazine. I hope I‘m not annoying anyone but this magazine is not only beautiful it is thought-provoking. The photography is National Geographic worthy too. This issue focuses a lot on Vietnam which makes me happy because it helps me with my #readtheworld goals. #Womankindmag
Graphic novel break with lunch on my deck. The weather is unseasonably hot right now touching 80!
#readathon snack #1: snickerdoodles with green tea. Yummy!!
Finally finished this one. It‘s not that it isn‘t good or well written because it is and have beautiful artwork. It is me. I just don‘t dig the story. Perhaps if I had read more Avengers and knew how Black Panther fits or had read the original Black Panther comics I would like it more because it is interesting just not my jam.
This is building up to something great. Can't wait to get my hands on the next one!
Some light weekend reading. #blackpanther #diversecomics #blackcomics
I think this series is tied for my favorite graphic novel series with Saga. Seriously amazing and I cannot wait until the next installment.

Ta-Nehisi Coates continues to impress in book two of his Black Panther. Although the action continues to be plagued by the weight of the larger Marvel Universe, the story picked up it's pace in this volume considerably. The guest heroes were a great surprise and helped demonstrate how out of his depth T'Challa is right now. Can't wait to see where this goes! #comics #blackpanther
Really digging Coates's Black Panther run so far. Tho not sure why they changed artists after #4, I assume it had to do with falling behind. Alas, enjoyable first 6 issues.
