Pickpick

First book finished for #scarathlon!
#skeletoncrew @Emilymdxn

This book is a pick mainly because I have very fond memories of reading it as a child, and I still have my old battered copy that I'd gotten from a monthly Scholastic order. The writing is a bit uneven, but it's a good sci-fi adventure story with some heartwarming moments.

TheSpineView Well done! 1y
bthegood just looking at the cover page made me smile - thank you for sharing - 💕 1y
TheAromaofBooks Woohoo!!! 1y
dabbe I loved this movie when I was a kid! 🤩🤩🤩 1y
kwmg40 @Ruthiella @Andrew65 @Librarybelle @bthegood @dabbe I hadn't realized that this movie had been so popular. The funny thing is that, though I'd read the book several times as a child, I don't recall watching the movie! 1y
kwmg40 @Emilymdxn Indeed! I confess that I specifically chose a short book as my first one, so that I could post a review on day 1. 😁 1y

Andrew65 @kwmg40 You‘ll have to see if you can find somewhere to see the film. 1y

Mehso-so

I read this one day last week. Serious nostalgia value if you grew up watching the ‘70s Disney movie, but otherwise just ok. The movie was better (I‘m biased, but still). I needed a quick and easy read, and that‘s what I got.

Ruthiella Loved that Disney movie as a kid! 1y

dabbe Oh, yes ... serious nostalgia indeed! 💙🖤🩵 1y
ravenlee @Ruthiella @5feet.of.fury @dabbe I still love that movie, and have been very happy to share it with my kiddo. We haven‘t watched the sequel yet, though. My dvd copy died 😕 and we don‘t have a streaming service. 1y
Clare-Dragonfly I loved that movie so much! I was also somewhat disappointed by the book… but IIRC I was also disappointed by an adult rewatch of the movie. 1y

TheKidUpstairs I have vague memories of the movie. May have to check it out again with my littles! 4y
Ruthiella @TheKidUpstairs I was maybe about eight when I saw it? 4y
Reggie I just looked up the girl because I know she was in this 1980‘s movie I liked, Tuff Turf, with James Spader, turns out she‘s a Real Housewife of some city, now. Who knew. 4y
Ruthiella @Reggie Yes, Kim Richards was a popular child actor in the ‘70s. 😀 4y
