Giant Days, Volume 2 | John Allison

#7in7readathon reading for the day: I finished Age of License, started and finished Giant Days vol. 2, and then started both Lovelace‘s book and French Milk. I read the first part of four in Lovelace‘s book and I‘m planning to read one part a day until the end of the readathon. I plan to finish French Milk tomorrow. So 3 down, 4 to go! 1 tomorrow, 2 Saturday during #reversereadathon, and finish Lovelace on Sunday. Totally doable!

I decided to start participating in #7in7readathon 2 days after it started. I‘m joining in because I plan to read several books on Saturday for #reversereadathon & I figured I could read 7 things between now & Sunday. Tonight I completed Astronaut, started & finished Giant Days Vol. 1, & began Age of License. I may not count Astronaut for 7in7 since I technically started it before the readathon began. It‘ll depend on what I‘ve finished by Sunday.

Jinjer Good idea to just jump on in! Why not right?🤷‍♀️ 6y

I finished the reading of seven things last week. I had started What Happens When A Man Falls from the Sky before last week, but I'm still counting it as a #7in7readathon success!

#7in7readathon

As I expected, I did not finish 7 books. 6 is a mighty fine total though! I owe that success to #comicthon. Thanks, @xicanti!

I'm now looking forward to the next #litsypartyofone!

Cathythoughts Well done 👏👏👏👏 7y

Here's my #7in7readathon wrap up.

I am so excited that I made it through 5 books!

Sometimes my job is insane. 5 books in one week is unthinkable. What a neat and fun challenge and I will definitely be taking part again next time.

I might have been able to squeeze in a few comics this evening butttttt GOT YOU GUYS!!!!

And with the completion of Cold-Forged Flame, that's a wrap for me for the #7in7readathon! (The Kindle on the bottom of the stack represents the tagged book, which I read digitally). I'm completely blown away by what Tor.com is doing with their sequence of novellas. So glad I used this readathon as a way to get to some of the many I've been curious about! Check out what they're publishing if you get the chance - it's entirely worth it!

aeeklund @elkeo SO. GOOD. 7y
elkeOriginal I just reread Every Door (!) and am dying for book 3 already! (Have not yet read bk 2 😕) 7y

Kalalalatja Any recommendations from what you have read? As a complete novella novice, I would love some good recs! 7y
Ashley_Nicoletto Way to go! I only made it through 5, but I'm proud of it. I'm with @Kalalalatja. Could you give us some novella recommendations from them?! I looked this up when you previously posted about it, but I didn't even know where to start. I love novellas. 7y
aeeklund @Ashley_Nicoletto @Kalalalatja I would definitely check out Every Heart a Doorway, which just won the Hugo. (I think @elkeo would agree?) And Binti (by Okorafor) for something sci fi. For more traditional fantasy, I liked Cold-Forged Flame (by Brennan). For intense, thought-provoking urban fantasy/horror, Mapping the Interior (by Stephen Graham Jones.) I can't seem to stop reading these, so I'll let you know what else I find!! 7y
elkeOriginal @Kalalalatja @Ashley_Nicoletto Yes! Every Heart is great! I feel like there are other novellas I have at home - will let you know if I come up with others! 7y
elkeOriginal @aeeklund I may need to check out Cold-Forged Flame... 7y
Kalalalatja @aeeklund @elkeo thanks you two! I can feel a new book haul coming very soon! 👏👏👏 7y
elkeOriginal @Kalalalatja More books! More books! 7y

Sace @Lmstraubie it was a lot of fun. Unfortunately I hit the hay soon after finishing Paper Girls. I wonder what my reading totals would look like if I could stay up past 8 PM. 🤣 7y
Lmstraubie You're a teacher. Staying up past 8:00 is not an option! 😅😅😅 7y
Sace @Lmstraubie ha! I'm not sure being a teacher has anything to do with it. I think I'm just getting to be a "certain age" ? 7y

Having spent the end of the week moving back into our flat and 13 hours at work today I'm confident that my attempt at the #7in7readathon has gone totally out the window! But hey, it was a good effort.

This evening I have no idea where my backpack containing the outstanding items on my readathon are & my other half is asleep so I can't look properly (we haven't unpacked) so a glass of red & a reread of Tiger Eyes it is. Ctd in comments...

charissharpe I absolutely LOVE Tiger Eyes, it's one of my all time favourite books. I fell in love with Davey & her story as a teenager & learnt of by heart my first Spanish sentence from this book... my vocabulary has diversified slightly since then, as well as saying "when the lizards run" I can now ask for a glass of white wine with ice in ? What was your favourite Judy Blume? #judyblume #yafiction #youngadult 7y

Maybe between a pick and a so so. The art was not my cup of tea, but the story is kind of cool. One volume is enough for me though.

#7in7readathon total: 5

Fantasy_bookworm I LOVE books and manga, but personally I like the show better for this story. 4y
Sace @Fantasy_bookworm I really enjoy Manga, but I'm sort of resistant to Anime. It drives my students nuts because they all sort of prefer anime. They love Fairy Tail and One Piece (among others). I can see how those would be better as shows. 4y
