Probably my last book of the year #84, I was really hoping to get to 100 this year.
Set during WWII when the men were called to duty and the women were called to the factories, this is a tale about the lies surrounding Big Tobacco and what happens when old white men continually tell women their place is at home raising babies. Southern women are a force of nature, sometimes that‘s a curse but it can be a blessing when it‘s time to stand up for what‘s right. Book #84 in 2024
Salt and Broom by Sharon Lynn Fisher
I finished this brilliant MASTERPIECE in less than 24 hours, I don‘t even know where to start. I loved it so much. SLF created something so amazing, my words don‘t do it justice. I lamented each time I had to put it down. This is my favorite book of the year!!! A magical retelling of Jane Eyre and I loved everything about it. Jane Aire will stay with me for a long time. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Book #84 in 2023
Book #84
3/5
I am finally finished this book, which I have been reading since August. Honestly, I had a hard time getting my footing on this one. I was constantly asking myself if this was meant to be a thriller or horror novel. Turns out it was a thriller. I definitely didn't know where it was headed, and I don't feel entirely at peace with how it ended, but it was definitely unique.
5⭐️ this was an amazing book. And if anybody is still looking for books to read for Black History Month… And you love fantasy, choose this one. Historical horror fantasy at its best, I loved every minute of it❣️ this is also my last read for the month of January, and it marks my completion of this months #roll100 with book #84.
Moving on to the next roll (#84) for #roll100 hosted by @PuddleJumper The first roll didn‘t go as planned. Oh, I read the book & then realized it‘s part of a series & it hooked me just enough to want to know more. So, I ordered the 2nd one! This challenge was suppose to help reduce my TBR not add to it! 🤷🏻♀️🤣
I have loved Jeff Goldblum ever since I first saw him in “Earth Girls are Easy” in the 80‘s.
My January #Roll100 picks are:
#96 - A Poetry Handbook by Mary Oliver
#84 - Mystery Man by Kristen Ashley
#44 - Our Malady by Timothy Snyder
I had already put the Snyder on my #BookSpin list, so clearly I need to read it this month! The Ashley was a swap gift from a couple years ago (one of my 2023 reading goals is books I‘ve received) and one of the few repeats from my 2022 #Roll100 list.
Thanks @PuddleJumper for hosting this challenge!
January #Roll100!!!
#96 - next in the Sookie Stackhouse series (GR lists all the collections that contain Sookie short stories as part of the series, so I‘m reading all of those too, and have really liked some of the stories from other authors). I actually only have 1 or 2 Sookie novels left.
#84 - This Is Where I Leave You (I‘ve seen and enjoyed the movie)
#45 - Broken Monsters (my 2nd Beukes; I loved The Shining Girls. SO excited for this one)
It took me a bit longer to get into Gareth and Hyacinth's story than it has in the earlier books in the series, but I very much enjoyed the mystery that unfolded. #84-2022 #bridgerton
