Actually a nickname for the poor boy's pale and mealy complexion, it does fit with the miserable, dreary world of Murdstone & Grinby's warehouse (also great names).
No #readathon for me this weekend as I entered #fictionwar so had to write a 1000 word story instead (my first). Whew! Treated myself to a noir #bookhaul ... The investigator in this one is called The Alligator.

He was raised in a cult and, like all but the first-born sons, at 17 he left for the Outside World where he was hired out a servant or tender. The girls were each named Biddy. #booktober
My choice for this challenge comes from a short story written by my grandmother. I love how she used the dog's name to give depth to the protagonist in only a few sentences! My Nonna had a deep passion for all things words, and shared it with her daughters and granddaughters ?
