First time I can really dive into this book.
I'm a slow reader, I get distracted a lot, etc...

So, in Chapter 3 I came across this and was wondering, whether there's a "b" missing. @LorieL

Since there often are spelling differences between British and American English, I googled "door jam". The best result came from the Urban Dictionary (link in comments). Made me laugh so hard.
