lynneamch @KadaGul Lots of negative things about the book too. BookRiot has a list of 15 books to read instead including this one that @Chelsea.Poole posted about 4mo
KadaGul @lynneamch What do you think ? about the book ? ? If it will be tough on my soul, I can add it to the bottom of my "To Be Read" list.#BOTTOMOFTBR 4mo
LiseWorks @KadaGul it is on my TBR list I haven't read it yet. But it's a memoir I don't usually read that genre 4mo
lynneamch @KadaGul I chose not to read it after many reviews like this one https://www.statepress.com/article/2020/04/specho-review-hillbilly-elegy?ref=404...
So many books, so little time. Right?

I finished this book 📕 this morning and convinced the husband to watch the movie 🎥 with me tonight. Now, I am usually a generous film critic when the story is a book I have read: I want to be surprised with delight that the director has captured something new, perhaps. But alas, the movie fails to capture the sweet angst and bitterness of trying to repair their broken childhood. Read the book, the movie can be skipped. ⬇️

BkClubCare But, what a cast! And the acting was fine. It just missed a true emotional hook. It was lackluster. The book is better and I hate saying it. But the book is better. #LitFilm #Book2Movie (edited) 1y

I can‘t say I enjoyed this exactly— it is sad and heartbreaking— but I very much appreciate old people main characters and their choosing life on their own terms. Well done Ella, you feisty grandma you. And as fearful/nervous as I was about how it would end, I admire how it was portrayed; “well done.”

bthegood Stacked - thanks for the review 🙂 1y

bthegood @BkClubCare If you don't need it back any time soon (not sure when I'll get to it) that would be great 🙂 1y
BkClubCare @bthegood - I never need it back 😉 I try not to keep books! Send me your addy to bkclubcare [at] gmail. And I should be able to send it off this week. Get to it whenever no pressure 💗 1y

Post from April 2020 with Esther in her Easter scarf modeling for my review of this read. I just saw the movie last night (Sept 2021) Beautiful cinematography! Much passion, a very “artsy” film (or at least compared to what we usually watch LOL) Certainly not a “book is better”; more like a solid balance of the two art forms. #Book2Movie #LitFilm

BkClubCare I never told Litsy that I was reading this! Breaking out of my typical Litsy-ing mode? 3y
BkClubCare Loved the movie, too! Book slightly better but a solid film, understandably adapted. 3y

Adding another #HolidayRead
This was a heart-warming tale of love, long over due. Somehow I was expecting a crime/thriller and not a romantic drama.

The awesome part is this is also a #Book2Movie adaptation. And I believe I've found my next #HolidayMovie

I enjoyed this one a lot more than Red Dragon.
The thing I enjoy most is that the FBI and police is really ignorant about the killer.
A lot of times authors seem to miss that the protagonist doesn't have to know everything about the killer.

I always try to work this one in this time of the year.
I love how it warms my heart each and every time I read it. Now I must just decide which one of the movies to watch.

Enchanted_Bibliophile @Bookwormjillk If only I could... But I'm stuck at work as skeleton staff. And while they don't mind us reading, watching movies is a no go. 😔 5y
