The recent release of Wes Anderson‘s new short films based on Dahl‘s short stories had me reading up the stories before watching. The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar, The Swan, The Rat Catcher, and Poison. Henry Sugar has a melancholy effect, the others are peculiar, dark and unsettling. They‘re all fantastic with brilliant performances. Recommended to watch. 👍

LeahBergen I‘m looking forward to watching these! 1y
erzascarletbookgasm @LeahBergen Enjoy! My favourite is The Swan 😊 1y
CarolynM I was just reading a newspaper article about these films about an hour ago! They sound great. I don‘t know that I‘m a Wes Anderson fan, but I really liked The Grand Budapest Hotel. 1y

julesG I watched Henry Sugar and didn't know there are three more gems waiting for me. Yeah! Thanks! 1y
batsy I haven't read the stories but I agree, the short films are wonderful. My favourite is The Swan, too, and The Rat Catcher is up there for unexpected yikes! So memorable. 1y
rabbitprincess I am definitely watching Henry Sugar! And I agree @CarolynM The Grand Budapest Hotel was great! 1y
sarahbarnes I need to watch these - I love Wes Anderson! His new film Asteroid City is great. 1y
erzascarletbookgasm @CarolynM I‘ll be interested to watch Grand Budapest Hotel. My son likes it too. In fact he‘s the one that introduced me to Wes Anderson, I didn‘t know about him before 😆 1y
erzascarletbookgasm @julesG If you like Henry Sugar and Anderson works, you‘re in for a treat! 1y
erzascarletbookgasm @batsy I wouldn‘t have read the short stories if not for these adaptations. I‘ve only read Dahl‘s children stories, the popular ones. The Rat Catcher is definitely yikes! 🤮 1y
erzascarletbookgasm @rabbitprincess I‘m definitely watching The Grand Budapest Hotel then! I hope you‘ll enjoy Henry Sugar. 1y
erzascarletbookgasm @sarahbarnes Ah, you‘re a fan! I‘m just discovering his works, so quirky and creative. Not sure I‘m a fan yet. 😊 1y

marleed @rohit-sawant @Cinfhen I‘d give myself a B+ at resolving a puzzle by book‘s end. But this one lowered my average - I just didn‘t know the end was coming. 6y
VanChocStrawberry Chugging along is how I feel...SO ready for the weekend! 6y
marleed @VanChocStrawberry What would we do without hope of a weekend! 6y

How do you avoid the crowds at “A Wrinkle in Time?” You go see the movie in Wichita, KS when the University of Kansas is playing in the Final Four. 😂 Let‘s hope the movie is as good as the book! #bookstomovie #TheresNoOneHere #boomersooner

readingallthetime I've read the book and listened to the audio twice. It's not for everyone. Have you read Stations Eleven? 7y
mrsmamfa @readingallthetime I started Station Eleven a little while ago and then moved house so I didn't pick it up again! 🙈 hoping to again soon!! 7y

Just a few #bookstomovie I could find on my shelf. Not pictured are the many books on my Kindle. #somethingforsept #septemberphotochallenge

Martyn_J_Pass I read 'The Road' in one sitting it was THAT good. When I went to watch the film I was still having a minor heart attack in the cannibal house even though I knew how it all turned out. Awesome book and film imo. 8y
Books_Wine_Repeat @The_Bear The Road killed me. It is one of the most suspenseful books I've read. It's so good. 8y
Martyn_J_Pass @Books_Wine_Repeat Someone said it best when, after reading The Road they had to go upstairs and check on the kids. My son was the same age as The Boy when I read it so my heart was quite literally ripped out of my chest. 8y

Books_Wine_Repeat @The_Bear Same! My oldest was only months old at the time. I don't know why I did that to myself. It's like if you're a parent you'll completely connect with the story but you won't want to read it for that exact reason. 8y
Martyn_J_Pass @Books_Wine_Repeat Ha ha ha - that's exactly it lol. I had people say 'I didn't like it' and my first question was 'do you have kids???' I don't know why we do it to ourselves either but it went down in history as one of my best reading experiences of all time. 8y
readinginthedark There's a movie of Persepolis? 😱 8y
