Memoir by debut author Katie Fugett, who was thrust into widowhood in her early 20s when her husband suffered limb loss from an Iraqi IED, followed by PTSD/painkiller addiction. Mix that with the author‘s abusive chaotic childhood and you get a serious struggle to survive both within and without marriage 💔

This was such a cute fall romance set in Scotland!
First off, the vibes are immaculate. It took place during autumn, so it gave off super cozy fall vibes. It was also set in a small town in the Scottish Highlands, which added to the dreamy coziness.
The romance was adorable. I loved Harper and Fraser, both separately and as a couple. I found them both endearing.

This super fun sequel is like the movie Red with an all female cast. I love it. I will read more of them.

This is a decent follow up book. I have no idea if I would read the next in this series.

Probably in the minority here, and I‘m a little surprised as I‘ve liked everything else I‘ve read by Solomon…. But absolutely nothing in this book was unexpected or surprising. Loved the setting, everything else was okay or unoriginal. That‘s harsh, but an exciting setting isn‘t enough. #bookspinbingo #bookspin
Very similar to their other collection: My Nest Isn't Empty...
Cute, and lighthearted, but I felt like I'd already read it.

This book tells the history of the US national anthem. The highlight is the story behind the song and Francis Scott Key‘s retelling of the attack on Fort McHenry. It was also interesting to learn about how the song evolved to include verses being added/subtracted to attempts to standardize it. The problem was the book never found a happy medium. The first half was too exhaustively detailed at times while the latter half had too much filler.
“Those memories press into me like rude, insistent fingers, as I try to push them away."
Chief Kate Burkholder is investigating a brutal double homicide in the Amish community of Painters Mill. She‘s tough as nails but understands families‘ pain, despite having grown up Amish and later leaving that religious life…
