I thought this was very entertaining. I immediately put myself on the waitlist for the next book in the series.

I absolutely love the more modern storyline in the book. The author has a style of writing that really pulled me in. However, there‘s a story within the story that almost ruined the entire thing for me. It‘s basically about the legend and folklore about this particular fishing spot the the town that used to exist around it. The owner of a local diner tells the tale to two fisherman in an attempt to scare them away….and he drones on for hours!!!

JoeMo I found myself thinking “there must be a reason for including several generations of details.” But in the end, I found it did more to derail the story and a short-short version would have sufficed. That being said, I was captivated again when the book returned to modern times and am glad to have seen it through.

Reggie I loved this book but totally agree the story from the diner from a brother whose father told him some story he heard from somebody who heard from somebody until you can‘t remember who‘s telling the story. 1h

I listened to this while my stepdaughter reads it for English class….I was shocked that I loved it. There was a lot more compassion and tenderness than I anticipated for a book about a gang of teenage boys. I see why this is considered to be the start of YA fiction, even though most of what I‘ve read in the genre pales in comparison. My stepdaughter, she‘s still working on it, but she read ahead to the ending (what‘s with young people today?).

Ruthiella Oh, I‘m old and I will sometimes read the end first when I‘m worried and a character or story arc. I find out what happened -get the worst over with- and the go back and read the rest.😅 14h
TheLudicReader Hinton's novel That Was Then, This is Now is even better, imho. 9h

My daughter goes to school about an hour from where these take place & a friend of mine lives there. It makes them even more entertaining to me. I found myself laughing throughout this book. Such a great escape.

A fun twisty thriller about a woman who has a unique podcast where her traumatic past comes back with a vengeance. I definitely recommend this one as an audiobook. Not perfect, there were a few moments that were a little implausible and a couple poor choices by the main character, but a fun read. 4⭐️

I won this through a Goodreads Giveaway!

Go get this book when it hits bookshelves. It publishes March 24, 2025! You will not be sorry.

The emotions I had reading this book were like a rollercoaster. I was laughing so hard, then the next paragraph, I would have tears in my eyes. Fredrik Backman's writing is amazing! The way he wrote made me feel as if I was right there that summer on the peir with the artist, Ted, Joar, and Ali!

A retelling of Hamlet told from the POV of an unborn baby. A bit odd but also pretty good!

If you enjoy this author, definitely read this. If not maybe assume it's like her other books and read something else. Her writing is beautiful. I read this for our April IRL #bookclub.

Up next! So this author‘s college roommate is a friend of mine, so it‘s been on my radar for a bit. A favorite IG book blogger pushed it up the list! Most of my favorite romance authors have disappointed the past year or two. Hoping for one that I love. ❤️
