#Read2025
Getting all my November reviews in so bear with me! I finished this one a couple of weeks ago, switching between my #BOTM & the audio book & I quite liked this unusual story of a guy who can taste the favorite foods of the dead & make them appear when he cooks the dish. It did get a bit long in the middle but I was caught up in Konstantin‘s story & the blend of foodie novel & ghost story. It even ended up on my #AuldLangSpine2025 list.

Set in WI, this mystery starts off a bit slowly, despite its strong initial hook with a dead teen found. Shaky Lake, with its woefully underfunded police department welcomes assistance on the case from the Chicago FBI field office. Meanwhile, the sheriff is as concerned with the case as her own son‘s (& deputy‘s) well-being as he flounders with his own PTSD. When a drug connection emerges, an even larger plot unfolds. A bit predictable but solid.

My #BOTM pick! It‘s been months since I didn‘t skip and this one really called to me.
Witchy, LGBTQ themes, gruesome horror! Yesss.
What did everyone else get?

December #botm selections are live. Their picks the past few years have been rather hit & miss, but it does seem like in recent months they have slightly improved their choices. Maybe feeling the pressure from Aardvark? Anywhoo, I was delighted to see a Demeester as one of the choices. I have read several of her stories & loved them.

December choices from #BOTM have dropped and the tagged is coming my way along with a few others, including a gift for my winter witch swap partner. Wheeeee!!!
Pic is from Sunday night hot tub time, post Lions win. Ahhh. We‘re got snow incoming here in southern Michigan—gonna hunker down today. Tomorrow we go to our besties for thanksgiving, 6 miles away. Euchre and Lions football. Pure Michigan indeed. Safe travels to all littens!
