Finished listening to Poppet by Mo Hayder yesterday.

Starting A Great Deliverance today - 1st book in Thomas Lynley series by Elizabeth George.

Up next is Buddy Read, Quentins by Maeve Binchy.

Keeping notes and characters in my reader‘s journal!

@Andrew65 @Tove_Reads Have you started this one yet?

JackOBotts My sister went to high school with the artist/author of 5y
EadieB @JackOBotts How interesting! It Is a beautiful book! 5y
Andrew65 This was a strange book for me. Liked the writing and at times loved it, at other times not so much. Notice a lot of her other books in the series are longer. Overall gave it 4 stars. Think great promise here, liked the interaction between the main 2 characters. Looking forward to continuing the series. @Eadie @Tove_Reads 5y
Tove_Reads @andrew65 I found myself drifting from time to time, not being able to focus, because the story stood still, but the last third of the book was good. 5y
Andrew65 @EadieB Could say more but would be giving some of the events in the story away. 5y

Pickpick

Sergeant Havers and DCS Ardery are paired to conduct a follow-up investigation of an investigation into a death in custody. When Lynley and Havers return to conduct a third investigation, they discover sexual harassment, rape and murder, all linked to obsessively helicoptering parents. A complicated story, but one of her best.

Trigger warning: Ardery‘s alcoholism a central story line.

There‘s something to be said for a series. Book 20 in the #inspectorlynley series solidifies all that I love in these books: watching Lynsey and Barbara Havers grow and regress and change has made me love them so much. And the fact that it‘s a platonic relationship makes this great mystery series just that little bit different.

If you‘re one who stopped following #ElizabethGeorge‘s Lynely series because of disappointments a few books back, it‘s time to start reading again. She‘s back in top form, and this one features my favorite Barbara Havers, with lots of interaction with Lynely too. Fortunately, no whiney Deborah. It‘s long, but worth it.

bnp I've got this one on my audio hold list at the library. Good to hear you liked it and there's no whiny Debirah. 7y
