#LittensLoveSJM #ToG Book 3 ch.49-51: Man, Celaena seems to get betrayed a lot. I wonder who turned on them and gave Narrok‘s forces the edge. Here‘s hoping all that fire training will help her against those creatures. And finally, after the slave massacre, Dorian seems to realize his father is literally the worst. But he knows that he must remain heir to make things change. ⬇️

StayCurious What he needs to do is assassinate the king but the king seems to always be one step ahead so that may be a bad plan. 1d
LiseWorks I felt bad for Dorian. What to do? And now the fight begins! 1d

mcctrish I want to know who betrayed them! It has to be a character we‘ve met? Chaol and Dorian‘s stories seem so lame compared to Celaena and the witches but I still don‘t understand why the king just lets Chaol do whatever 23h
Butterfinger I'm on the edge of my seat. Aedion was so pitiful. The pretense. The guilt. 22h
Littlewolf1 Oh man, how did I get off track here. Seriously thought I was doing three a day, but apparently I read an extra two chapters somewhere… Lol. 19h
BarkingMadRead Ong this betrayer better not wreck me. And this is getting harder to put down. I have a feeling I‘ll be done by Tuesday, and only because I have a busy Monday 🤣 13h

Pickpick

I have read so much fantasy this year, and I don't regret not one little fairy iota.

The ending blew me away. Another boon, my 14 year old was willing to discuss it with me.

I just want to pull petals off a flower. "Cardan loves Jude. Cardan loves her not."

Alas, my last reading day is tomorrow, so I probably won't find out any time soon. I will hopefully get an hour in each night going forward.

#LittensLoveSJM #ToG Book 3 Ch.46-48: I think we all know how bad the King of Adarlan is. But killing every slave in those labour camps - the brutality is unthinkable. And what is his endgame? Adarlan is in charge but soon will have no people to rule over. And now the revenue from those labour camps is gone. It‘s hard to fathom such cruelty. ⬇️

StayCurious Celaena was already going to kill him but now I think she‘ll have a lot of help from those around her. But first, save the Demi fae and the fortress! Here‘s hoping Maeve lets Rowan stay and fight. 2d
mcctrish The king is just burning it all to the ground proving he‘s insane 2d

5feet.of.fury @mcctrish agree, so over the top. But Vengeance is coming 🔥🔥🔥 hopefully this snaps the boys out of their complacency 2d
BarkingMadRead This was way over the top, how could he benefit from this? 2d
Littlewolf1 I forgot how heartbreaking the series was, and again I‘m reminded why I had to read other books during the series. It absolutely wrecks my soul to think about how many people were just massacred, and how devastated the people left behind must feel. I know it‘s fiction but I feel this. And it also reminds me that despite being fiction, things like this happen when people seek power and control. It‘s not just in stories. 2d
Butterfinger Rowan showed some humility when telling Aelin. At the beginning, he would have used the knowledge to make her mad. @Littlewolf1 you are right. 2d
LiseWorks I'm not sure this was a good plan to kill them all. 2d

The River Has Roots | Amal El-Mohtar

I'm 30% into this book and it initially peaked my interest because it dealt with fey and fairly tales but the way its written really bothers me.

The narrator is so pretentious and talks down to the reader and it irks me so much. The conversations feel so fake and hollow.

The flowery prose feels so overwritten.

I really want to like this book because it makes me think of Lud in the Mist, but it just isn't it 🥲

Doppoetry Lud has its issues, but at least it didn't feel like I was being talked down to. 2d

1. Got the tagged book back from the library with minimal down time.
2. Went to a car show finally.
3. Got some good photos too.
4. Kelly Bishop's autobiography is in for me to pick up.
5. My craft feed on bluesky is almost NSFW free.

#LittensLoveSJM #ToG Book 3 Ch.43-45: our characters are putting together all the evil things the king is up to. He‘s creating monsters to build his army. And he‘s planning to attack Wendlyn soon. But how can they be warned? And does Aedion even want to considering they failed to help Terrasen. We also see tension between Abraxos and even the thirteen and Manon‘s grandmother. They are loyal to Manon more than her. Does the grandmother know this?

BarkingMadRead Omg Abraxos‘ reaction to the grandmother was priceless! (edited) 3d

Littlewolf1 I‘m just gonna say we all get bonus points for not reading the next chapter. First, we have Manon and Abraxos in the air, but it stops there. We don‘t know the response to the other witches, of the 13 of her grandmother. And then, we have Aeline (Celaena) about to get attacked and Rowan nowhere to be found. The fact at this point that I haven‘t just finished the book show dome restrain on my part. Kudos all who are sticking to 3 chapters a day. (edited) 3d
BarkingMadRead @Littlewolf1 I am so close to reading ahead, it‘s been hard to restrain myself 3d
Butterfinger I'm renaming my cat from Ruhn Dannon to Abraxos @BarkingMadRead @mcctrish When he growled the grandmother, I love him. If Maas wants me invested in the Rowan pairing, it will have to be because of his hurt from his past, the guilt of his wife and unborn child dying. Chaol really didn't have that, did he? Just a hateful father. Don't get me wrong, it's awful to endure the abuse, but R and C/A hold tremendous guilt from their actions. 2d
Butterfinger Chaol was weak anyway. Which side did he choose? His own side. 2d
LiseWorks The fact that Celaena still thinks of Chaol is interesting. The fact that she promised Dorian she would be back for him is mentioned again. So, I'm waiting for Dorian to take some kind of action against his father, Chaol, to take a side. And Rowan to take that first kiss. 2d
mcctrish @LiseWorks I wonder how many books it will take ? 2d
mcctrish @Littlewolf1 in my case it‘s the 4 buddy reads I have going on but I was weighing how much is left and debating about just finishing it 2d
5feet.of.fury @Butterfinger I hope Maas thought of something good if Rowan is endgame because I‘m not going to like this man just because he is traumatized 😂 2d

#LittensLoveSJM #ToG Book 3 Ch.40-42: We see what burnout looks like for a Fae as powerful as Celaena and Rowan just manages to save her. They are growing closer and sharing more about themselves. She even told him about Sam. Rowan is also learning that Maeve may not be that honest about certain things. She has kept things from him. And Celaena is growing to hate Maeve the more she learns about her. ⬇️

StayCurious Meanwhile, I liked that Aedion spoke so bluntly to Chaol and accused him of not picking a side. He will have to face some hard truths about himself and his relationships with Dorian and Celaena. 4d
BarkingMadRead So many relationship tests in these chapters! But no witches! I need my fix 🤣 4d

mcctrish Chaol is a bystander to his own life 4d
mcctrish @BarkingMadRead I need some Abraxos stat 4d
LiseWorks The burning chapter was intense. She still needs to learn control. I was so glad Rowen realized how bad he treated Celaena. 4d
Littlewolf1 I am really enjoying the chemistry between Rowan and Celaena during these chapters. I think it‘s good that he is starting to see how broken she truly is and being a little bit more respectful. However, I‘m glad he called her out on her fear of her own power. The fact that she thought she burned out during the celebration, gave her help which he smashed by letting her know that she did not burn out, but rather allow her magic to take control. 4d
5feet.of.fury Very good, I enjoyed Celaena & Rowan bonding over their trauma. 2d

#LittensLoveSJM #ToG Book 3 Ch.37-39: Boy-that Iskra is asking for a walloping, and I‘m glad Manon gave it to her. Poor Abraxos! But now Manon has shown her weakness to everyone. She‘d better watch her back-even from her allies. Also, what was she thinking stealing from that spider? That‘s gonna come back to haunt her, for sure. Also pretty sure the foul taste/smell is dark magic set to control the witches. Good thing Manon is smart to notice.

Laughterhp I was not expecting her to steal from those spiders! I liked all the witches chapters! 5d
mcctrish @Laughterhp I gasped out loud at the spider double cross! It can‘t end well 5d

mcctrish The black magic that permeates everything is meant to keep them from succeeding for sure - do all the wyverns talk to their witches or just some ? 🤔 5d
LiseWorks I'm falling in love with Abraxas, especially when he shielded her from the cold. Stealing from a spider is not a good thing. 5d
BarkingMadRead Omg these chapters were so good! I worry about the backlash from stealing from those spiders and showing her hand when it comes to Abraxos. That scene where he protected her from the storm was 😍😍 5d
Littlewolf1 I feel like Manon should be paying closer attention to Abraxas action. We know he did not eat the meat for a reason, maybe he was avoiding the drop-off. Also, i really do not like the relationship between Dorian and the nurse. 5d
Butterfinger @mcctrish I have no idea if they all have that mental connection, but I admit I could have squealed when he knocked the three spiders off the cliff. It was like they planned it and it was executed perfectly. @StayCurious it is driving me crazy- the mountain, the rings, the smell and taste, the control. I'm glad the 13 and their wyverns have stopped eating the food. This may be unpopular, but Manon and Abraxas are saving this book. 5d
StayCurious @Butterfinger no I totally agree. Her chapters are the most interesting 4d
5feet.of.fury @Butterfinger agree Abraxos & Manon are my faves. Everyone else is all talk no action. 4d
Roary47 @Butterfinger Nope! I agree 💯! They are saving this book. The spider 🕷️ scene I glazed over. 😭😱 I don‘t really like S with D either @Littlewolf1 I do like that he has someone to keep his magic secret. I wish N was still there to help Dorian with it though. 😔 3d

#LittensLoveSJM #ToG Book 3 Ch.34-36: Rowan and Celaena are making progress with each other. Turns out Rowan has lost his mate - which is the worst thing that can happen to Fae I think. No wonder he‘s so hard. Celaena has started to feel a connection to him in that they‘ve both suffered loss and need to crawl their way out of the abyss. Perhaps they can do it together. What he felt for his mate I think Celaena felt for Sam and even Nehemia. ⬇️

StayCurious Aedion and Chaol are closer to discovering how the King got rid of magic. The king must be a keen study to have figured out how to do that. Did he have help? Or did he just control those around him? 6d
BarkingMadRead Ugh am I going to end up liking Rowan? 6d
See All 12 Comments
StayCurious @BarkingMadRead it‘s hard to believe but … maybe? 6d
BarkingMadRead @StayCurious I will be so so mad 🤣🤣🤣 6d
Laughterhp I like that Emrys sticks up for her and has no problem yelling at Rowan. All of a sudden I‘m supposed to feel sympathy for Rowan?! He better do more than just tell her he lost her mate for me to like him. 6d
LiseWorks Aha! So now I feel really bad for Rowan, I knew there was a reason for the way he is. And Aedion is not bad after all. You can't judge a person without knowing them. 6d
Butterfinger I thought Ren's story was pitiful. How far he's fallen just to survive. 6d
Littlewolf1 Not gonna lie, I deal with pain with getting tattoos too. Not the same type, but the same concept. I‘m glad they were able to take this and open up, and then she got a couple good swings in there during this round. They‘re obviously both dealing with my struggle of self-worth, but I like the idea of them healing together. 5d
Read4life With everything going on I‘m WAY behind. I‘m hoping to get caught up tomorrow. 5d
Roary47 I feel like I should feel bad for Rowan. What happened was terrible, but he made the choice to leave his pregnant wife for what he felt his duty. I feel like he picked his job over his family. While sure he was needed, could he have ensured that his wife was safe with relatives, friends, or something before he left? I am glad that Celeana and him had this sort of bonding moment, but I'm still not okay with how he has been treating her. 5d
5feet.of.fury @Roary47 agree, it‘s sad, I have some empathy for him… but that doesn‘t make up@for what he did to her or randomly putting Luca in danger. Ridiculous behavior 4d
