Much ADO about Nothing | William Shakespeare
post image

The shop at the #Globe was amazing! I got these really cute graphic novels that also include some educational material suitable for kids. Much Ado about Nothing, the sticker, card and blue magnet is a birthday present for a friend. The rest is all for me. I got the dying Ophelia poster from #TateBritain.

Antony and Cleopatra | William Shakespeare
post image

Antony and Cleopatra is definitely one of #Shakespeares lesser known works, but it was the play that fit best in my schedule. Being in the famous #Globe was pretty cool, but next time I‘m gonna splurge for a seat. Someone actually fainted next to me when they carried out the dying Antony. I guess they couldn‘t deal with the fake blood 🫣.

LiteraryinPA Yikes! I was there once and I also didn‘t have a seat. It was so hot and when I sat on the ground (even though I couldn‘t see well that way), the usher came and yelled at me. So yes, if I go again I will get a seat too! 3mo
Cuilin Oh, I did standing inonce there too, and had the worst backache. I will definitely splurge for a seat next time too. 3mo
Kitta I stood through Hamlet there once, it was 4 hours! I will definitely also spurge for a seat next time. 3mo
julesG Had Groundling tickets for The Tempest once. It was tough. Had been touring the city since early morning and three hours plus just standing around gave me terrible backache, and it was drizzling the whole time. But, it's an experience. 3mo
thewallflower0707 @julesG oh god, I was really happy with the warm weather and that the play is one of the shorter ones. That sounds very tough. 3mo

Pickpick

This is a fantastic book that compares the old witch trials with the pressures and prejudices women face today. While reading this book I admit to feeling really frustrated and angry. It's 2023 and it feels like women are losing rights again 😾

Aspects of the Novel | E. M. Forster
post image

“In daily life we never understand each other, neither complete clairvoyance nor complete confessional exists. We know each other approximately, by external signs, and these serve well enough as a basis for society and even for intimacy. But people in a novel can be understood completely by the reader, if the novelist wishes; their inner as well as their outer life can be exposed. ⬇️

TK-421 And this is why they often seem more definite than characters in history, or even our own friends; we have been told all about them that can be told; even if they are imperfect or unreal they do not contain any secrets, whereas our friends do and must, mutual secrecy being one of the conditions of life upon this #globe.” #QuotsyApr20 5y

EadieB @umbrellagirl I had a trip to England/Scotland planned for August and had to cancel because my immune system is not good because I have Rheumatoid Arthritis. Probably lost my deposit too! 5y
umbrellagirl @EadieB That‘s awful. I‘m Scottish but live in the US. I don‘t know when I‘ll be able to get back. I hope you will be able to go eventually, when things calm down. 5y
EadieB @umbrellagirl Hopefully, after the stock market makes up the money that was in our vacation fund as we are retired. 5y
umbrellagirl @EadieB We‘re still working but I‘m afraid to look at my retirement account or my son‘s college fund. I‘m sure it‘s bad, but I don‘t know if I want to know just how bad. 5y
EadieB @umbrellagirl It will come back once the economy gets going again but we still need to wait until virus calms down or we get a vaccine. 5y
