@Amabear Thank you so much for the #helpmefindnewbooksgiveaway! I love everything you chose for me! ❤️

I ordered lots of books for my PhD exams before leaving for a one-week trip to Niagara Falls with my boyfriend. Three packages were in the mailbox when we came back tonight, so I assumed they were all books I ordered. I was VERY confused when I opened that one without looking where it came from 😂

Amabear LOL I‘m so sorry it was so late 😂 5y
ulrichyumiodd @Amabear No worries! I look forward to reading the book and trying on the socks and necklace! Thanks again :) 5y
Amabear @ulrichyumiodd awesome! :) so glad you like it all 5y

The Stand | Stephen King
post image

Okay,I can‘t follow the rules and do just one! Both of these are favorites of mine, although very different styles. The Stand is a chunkster with a large cast of characters set in a world decimated by a super-flu. Riveting story of good vs. evil. Fan favorite of King‘s. The Road was, to me, just breathtaking. A man and a boy fighting for survival in a harsh, dog-eat-dog world. Raises questions of what constitutes basic humanity. Love them both!

Kaye Is Bird Box dystopian? If so, that‘s my pick because it‘s the only one I‘ve read. 😁 6y
Amabear Oooo these both look great!!! Awesome!!! Thanks for entering! 6y
Amabear @kaye enter with it! I haven‘t read it and want to! 6y

#HelpMeFindNewBooksGiveaway

Station Eleven : survival is insufficient
This novel captivatingly & seamlessly layers the pre- with the post-apocalypse story. Elegantly written without being over dramatic, it‘s lonely, haunting, real. But from the darkness, incredible things arise. This is a novel you start to read one chapter, then realize you‘ve finished the book. Unputdownable.

A solid 5 ⭐️. And now I may have to go reread it!

Erofan Absolutely agree! 6y
Amabear Awesome!!! Thanks for entering! 6y

#HelpMeFindNewBooksGiveaway @Amabear thank you for the giveaway. I don‘t have much space to tell you why Fahrenheit 451 is my favorite dystopian novel so I might have to go into the comments. To me most dystopian books have settings that are completely unbelievable. They seem so far-fetched to me that I can‘t imagine a future like that. However, Fahrenheit 451 felt almost like we are living in it today. I couldn‘t put it down. Continue in comments

Marilyncjackson A lot of the things that happen in that novel mirror what‘s going on today. Reading is illegal because it‘s a way to share knowledge and it‘s A way to get ideas out to the masses. Television and other things are run by the government to distract everyone from what‘s really going on. This is what makes Fahrenheit 451 such a great dystopian world. Because it makes you wonder if this is the very near future for us. 6y
Marilyncjackson I could say a lot more but I don‘t like sparking social media debates so I‘m just going to leave this here. This is also the most I‘ve ever written on here 😊 (edited) 6y

Never Let Me Go | Kazuo Ishiguro
post image

Never Let Me Go is a book that resonates with the moral conflicts surrounding cloning. It asks important questions about what an individual must be to be considered truly human and deserving of rights. What if you are merely a copy of another human? What if your life has no value except being an organ donor?

ulrichyumiodd @Amabear I thought I would suggest something a bit different from the classics! It‘s a great book. Was I supposed to tag in the comments of the original post? I‘m dumb sometimes, haha. (edited) 6y

@Amabear i have 2 recommendations for you!
For #helpmefindnewbooksgiveaway I wanted to talk about The Giver & Fahrenheit 451. These are both written for YA. The Giver is a quartet where a community is given their families, jobs, & housing based on their interests. They dont have feelings and one boy is selected to receive all of the memories of the past & feelings. Fahrenheit 451 is a future when books are burned & intellectual freedom is banned.

Amabear Awesome thank you! Iv read the giver but not the other one. 6y
thebookishtype15 You're welcome! 6y
KimPossible89 Love them both. Fahrenheit 451 is my favorite book. 6y
AvalonRoselin The Giver is one of my all time faves and inspired me to start writing seriously after a heated classroom debate! ♡ So good 6y

@Amabear needs new #dystopian book recs, and she‘s doing a giveaway!

I‘m bad at following directions, so here are two:

The tagged book is disturbing, depressing, thought-provoking, and totally awesome. I love the writing style, but full disclosure: Ishiguro is one of my author crushes.

Or, if you like YA, the Gone series by Michael Grant is addictive and enthralling. I still think about it 5 years after reading.
