Wow. This discussed where the motion picture ends, and follows the stories of the lives after. What a ride through feelings, with some new custom combinations on the analysis feed. Life is messy.

The title takes on so many layers of meaning through these intertwined stories.

4⭐️ Took me awhile to understand the point of the book; it was the section titled “Micho Alvarez” (about 2/3 of the way through the book) that made me understand the author‘s intention of the book. Made me understand even more why people risk their lives crossing the US/Mexico border. #bookstagram #ownvoices #fiction #bookreview #immigrantstories #2020

marleed I loved this book. I read it this year after it was recommended as a book to read instead of or as a companion to (depending on you perspective) American Dirt. 5y

Captures something I've noticed about some Chinese restaurants anywhere (not in China) - adapting to the local scene. Liked this overall, 4/5 (we need something between Pick and So-So for ratings).

Article the author wrote which is the basis for the book: https://www.theglobeandmail.com/life/food-and-wine/chop-suey-nation/article30539...

Over time, Dad started leaving his borsello behind on the credenza. His colleagues teased him about being gay whenever he carried it, so he stopped.
Ironically, though the borsello was a very common male accessory & a sign of refinement in 1970s Italy, these days discussion can be found on the Internet among Italian guys as to whether carrying the borsello is a sign of being gay.

This Independence Day, I‘m celebrating immigrant stories — because welcoming newcomers is one of the American values I cherish most.

I'm really loving this and can't believe it took me so long to start it. Finally began it in honor of this year's Maker Faire and it's awesome.

Love this author of #historicalfiction #immigrantstories . She weaves her research of each time period with engaging characters and relevant social issues. Rich fodder for bookclub discussions. If you get a chance to hear her speak, take it! #colorinthetitle #clouds #SplashintoSummerReads @Tiffy_Reads

After my disappointment with The Alchemist, this is a book I picked up on a whim from the bookstore one day. I'm enjoying the stories so far. It seems like this year is the year I read books about and/or by immigrants. And of course, there's coffee! ☕️📚👩🏻‍🏫 #booksandcoffee #bookriot #litsypartyofone #immigrantstories
