MinDea Have you read moat of the ones you recommended? 7y
Jess7
The Terrorist's Son: A Story of Choice 7y
![[tagged book]](https://image.librarything.com/pics/litsy_webpics/icon_taggedBook@3x.png)
Jess7 I‘ve read all of the ones I tagged that I didn‘t say “I want to read” and I own all of the ones I‘ve listed if I haven‘t read them 7y
MinDea @DGRachel I think I have Monster of Florence. I didn't know it was true crime! 7y
Jess7 Not sure. We can decide soon. 7y
Jess7 This isn‘t exactly true crime per se but it is about Scientology and I want to read it. I bought it recently as a kindle daily deal.
Beyond Belief: My Secret Life Inside Scientology and My Harrowing Escape 7y
![[tagged book]](https://image.librarything.com/pics/litsy_webpics/icon_taggedBook@3x.png)
MinDea Thanks @DGRachel @Pamwurtzler @Jess7 @JaclynW !!! 7y
MinDea @Jess7 scientology fascinates me. That would be interesting! 7y
Jess7 I‘m sure I‘m forgetting others I‘ve read, but those are some. If you haven‘t read Helter Skelter or Waiting to be Heard you definitely should. 7y
MinDea @Jess7 I have Helzer Skelter but haven't read it... 7y
DGRachel @MinDea It's about a series of murders committed by an Italian serial killer. I found the workings of the Italian justice system to be fascinating (and more than a little terrifying, if I'm honest). I had to buy a second copy because I accidentally left my book on a plane at the end of a long, late flight! (edited) 7y
cathysaid @DGRachel @mindea I second this!
The Monster of Florence 7y
![[tagged book]](https://image.librarything.com/pics/litsy_webpics/icon_taggedBook@3x.png)
JamieArc Ditto on Monster of Florence. Great true crime book but make sure you read the commentary at the end on the judicial system and the Amanda Knox case. I found it fascinating. It's one of my top recommendations for true crime books! 7y
cathysaid @JaclynW @MinDea Another one I was going to suggest!
Under the Banner of Heaven: A Story of Violent Faith 7y
![[tagged book]](https://image.librarything.com/pics/litsy_webpics/icon_taggedBook@3x.png)
IamIamIam I was appalled by this trial and the documentaries that went with it.
Devil's Knot 7y
![[tagged book]](https://image.librarything.com/pics/litsy_webpics/icon_taggedBook@3x.png)
MinDea Thanks @JamieArc @IamIamIam @cathysaid 7y
cathysaid On my TBR so can't really recommend yet...

![[tagged book]](https://image.librarything.com/pics/litsy_webpics/icon_taggedBook@3x.png)

Cinfhen Past #BOTM choice, was pretty fascinating
American Fire: Love, Arson, and Life in a Vanishing Land 7y
![[tagged book]](https://image.librarything.com/pics/litsy_webpics/icon_taggedBook@3x.png)
Sweettartlaura I second Helter Skelter. It was my first audiobook of this year, & it was enthralling, even though it was long. I learned a lot I didn‘t know .
Helter Skelter: The True Story of the Manson Murders 7y
![[tagged book]](https://image.librarything.com/pics/litsy_webpics/icon_taggedBook@3x.png)
Sweettartlaura @Jess7 Read Going Clear at/around the same time you read Beyond Belief. It‘s the adult take while Beyond Belief is the story of a girl growing up in Scientology. They complement each other very well. 7y
swishandflick It's been a while since I've read this, but I remember being totally sucked into this and sleeping with lights on
The Search for the Green River Killer: The True Story of America's Most Prolific Serial Killer 7y
![[tagged book]](https://image.librarything.com/pics/litsy_webpics/icon_taggedBook@3x.png)
swishandflick Or this one
Columbine 7y
![[tagged book]](https://image.librarything.com/pics/litsy_webpics/icon_taggedBook@3x.png)
MinDea @Cinfhen we are reading American Fire in December for #botmBuddyRead! 7y
JenlovesJT47 I definitely third Helter Skelter 🙋🏻 IMO the best true crime novel out there. Beyond that, I've been reading a lot about Laci Peterson lately. I would recommend her mother's book, For Laci, and Amber Frey's book Witness. Also, Zodiac by Robert Graysmith. I'm sure there are many more I'm forgetting! 7y
MinDea Alright, alright! I'll read Helter Skelter!! 😂😂 7y
MinDea @JenlovesJT47 Lacy Peterson could be interesting. What have you read on Jack the Ripper? 7y
JenlovesJT47 I haven't read much about Jack the Ripper but I've watched a lot of stuff about it. Definitely something worth reading about! I'd also recommend anything about Lizzie Borden. Another interesting case from around the same time period. 7y
MinDea @JenlovesJT47 have you read the young adult book about the girl who loves Jack the Ripper...not true crime but ya historical fiction? 7y
Cathythoughts Loved In Cold Blood 7y
Kaye Thanks for the tag @cinfhen @mindea If you want to take a look through the books I‘ve posted, tons of them are true crime. Some that are really good are

MinDea Thanks @kaye @swishandflick @Cathythoughts @Sweettartlaura @Cinfhen @starlight97 !! 7y
DocBrown I don‘t know if it‘s, strictly speaking, True Crime, but it is true, and about a crime, and an amazing read:
Ghettoside: Investigating a Homicide Epidemic 7y
![[tagged book]](https://image.librarything.com/pics/litsy_webpics/icon_taggedBook@3x.png)
Cinfhen My bookclub just read Helter Skelter, it‘s phenomenal BUT it‘s VERY detailed almost to the point of suffocation....just set aside some time.... 7y
JenlovesJT47 No I haven't read that one yet but I know what you're talking about. I checked it out from the library one time but didn't get to finish it before I had to take it back. But it looks really good! Might have to request some books about Jack the Ripper! Also, do you have Amazon prime or kindle unlimited? They have a ton of true crime books available on there, some short ones that are worth reading. 7y
