I was uncertain about this book to begin with and still cant quite decide if I would designate it so-so or a pick. I found it quite emotionally comforting how it confronts issues relating to mortality and the style is certainly innovative. It's not something I'd ever pick normally but we read it with my book club and I was pleased I'd branched out #lincoln #lincolninthebardo

I‘m really liking this book but am still confused with the style. There seems to be no pattern in chapters as to when the ghosts are talking then to descriptions of the night in question. Did anyone else come across this problem? Or maybe you figured it out? I heard the audio was confusing as well...

Ashley_Nicoletto I tried to read this book multiple times in print and audio and I quit each time. It was so confusing. I could never keep track of the story line. 6y

Graywacke I listened on audio. I had to spend a little time figuring it out, but once I did, it was terrific. (Figuring out they kept saying op. cit. took an embarrassing long time). 6y

britt_brooke @Book_devourer I just listened to the audio. Just not a fan. The cast was fantastic, but the style just doesn‘t work for me. Feels like he tried too hard to make it weird. 6y

For my first post, I have to go with one of my all-time favorites. A brilliant Faustian and surreal tale set amidst the Russian revolution. For any new fans of #LincolnInTheBardo, this has a similarly grim yet absurdist feel. Can't recommend enough.
