Day 11 - #Kindness #ForeverNovember
#CongratulationsByTheWaySomeThoughtsOnKindness #GeorgeSaunders

Three months after George Saunders gave a graduation address at Syracuse University, a transcript of that speech was posted on the website of The New York Times, where its simple, uplifting message struck a deep chord. Because Saunders‘s words tap into a desire in all of us to lead kinder, more fulfilling lives. Powerful, funny, and wise.

OriginalCyn620 I‘ll have to check this out! 4y

Day 23 - #NotSoFavoriteAuthor
After reading this book, I must say that satirical fiction is not for me. I found this book very difficult to read. The words did not flow and I really was not interested in what the author was trying to relate. There are a lot of good reviews for this book so some people did benefit from reading it. Not sure if I could honestly recommend it as I wouldn't want to put anyone else through the pain it was for me to read.

Scochrane26 He‘s a little weird. I liked Lincoln in the bardo much more. 5y

I think I have found the homeland of the very persistent gappers. Sadly for them, there were no goats around. 😁

Aimeesue Also, I have no idea what these actually are, but they are VERY pointy and extremely sticky, in a burr-like fashion. Any ideas? 5y
Bookwomble Possibly teasel heads?🤔 5y
Aimeesue @Bookwomble Your idea set me to Googling. They're chestnut burrs! I had no idea chestnuts grew in a prickly casing. 5y
Bookwomble I did consider chestnuts, but they're *so* prickly I dismissed the idea! Why are you weaponising your home decor? 😄😉 5y
Aimeesue Ha! I just wanted some gappers! Saw these while walking the dogs and they reminded me of the book, so I put them in the bag to bring them home. I usually bring a bag to put trash in - since I have to carry dog poop bags anyway I might as well pick up stray plastic bottles, etc. as I go by. Also needed to figure out what they were or it would've driven me nuts! 😂 5y

Pickpick

Lincoln in the Bardo was unlike any narrative I‘ve ever read. The weaving of eye witness accounts and fictional dialog from the dead about Lincoln and the loss of his son was intriguing. There were multiple themes dealing with life, death, civil war, racism, denial, and depression that unraveled the story quickly. ⭐⭐⭐⭐/5

In Austin we have a lot of Live Oak trees, and in the Live Oaks grow a lot of Air Plants. Can you see the spikey balls on each branch? They don‘t hurt the tree at all, they get everything they need from the air. But walking under them made me think of the Gappers today. 😂🐐🧡

Aimeesue ❤️❤️❤️ that book! 6y

A house on the park. He'd seen it a million times. And now was in it. It smelled of man sweat and spaghetti sauce and old books. Like a library where sweaty men went to cook spaghetti. #tenthofdecember #georgesaunders
