Inspector Persis Wadis is the first woman to qualify as a police person in India during Partition. She works out of the Malabar House station, where the most “unwanted”police are sent. She is to investigate the murder of Sir James Herriot,an Englishman, who is involved in a top-secret investigation. The author draws with impeccable detail, a picture of India during the chaos of Partition-it‘s political rivalries, cultural,& religious turmoil.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Cuilin I really enjoyed this. Will you read the series? 9h
kspenmoll @Cuilin Yes, I hope to continue. Checking to see if my library has the next in the series. I enjoyed this, love the characters & learned so much! 8h

This definitely didn't live up to the hype. It was twisty and the unreliable narrator (not a spoiler, it's pretty transparent) was interesting, but it was really just ok!

Decalino I agree. The Silent Patient was much better, imo. 1d
bookandbedandtea I did not like this book but I love your mug! 😍 21h

LeslieO @Nebklvr Me too! It‘s a reread for me, it‘s been a long time. And I want to read the other books in the series. Have you read the other 2? 5d
TheLudicReader All the Colors of the Dark is a really quick read…despite the page count. 5d
Nebklvr @LeslieO I have read 2 or 3? Others. I liked his last one. The other two not as good. 5d

I devoured Everyone In My Family Has Killed Someone, so I've high hopes for this sequel!

RamsFan1963 I thought the sequel was a little better, but it might just be because we've come to know the narrator and the story format better. 1w
Read4life I also liked this one better than the first one. I hope you enjoy it. 1w
quietjenn @RamsFan1963 @Read4life oh, that makes me happy to hear! I'm only a little ways in, but it's certainly hitting the right spots. 1w

Mediocre, predictable detective novel about three PIs with unexplained vast wealth. One is a heroin addict who largely escapes the typical consequences of that problem because he is extremely rich. I did like how, unlike most detective novels, this story has the PIs working several cases at once, but that is about all I liked.

Added some new titles to my (95% TBR) to my shelves last week🥳🤗 I decided to splurge a little bit😝because it‘s been a fantastic reading year so far! I‘ve cleared so many books from my shelves (33+) & I haven‘t bought more than 10-15 new ones. I‘ve spent some time re-evaluating what‘s on my shelves. I‘ve reduced some double rows & things look a bit🤏🏻less chaotic🤗 🥂to so much more reading!
