Brandon Stanton's HONY project first began in 2010 offering glimpses into the lives of NYC people. Five years later, Stanton's photo series expanded to different countries and continues with sharing people's personal stories among his 20 million social media followers.

#NYClove I listened to both these books this year. Falling Towers is a middle grades book and Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close is adult. Both books are about the aftermath of 9/11 and how people were effected by this tragedy years later.

RaimeyGallant Both have great covers to boot. 2y
Cortg @RaimeyGallant They do! Lots of red, white and blue! 2y

Today, I will perform an act of kindness or service to others, and take time to remember those that we lost 16 years ago. We cannot let hate win.

MrBook @RaimeyGallant Do you live in NYC? 2y
RaimeyGallant @MrBook No, this my disguised attempt to recognize 911, though I will be there for half a day in a couple of weeks. My mom and I are will be touring DC, and she wants to take a day trip to NYC. I'm pretty sure you live there though. 2y

These are photos from the tragic 1911 fire disaster at the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory in New York City. The employees were all women. Some were locked in their sewing room and not able to escape. This historical tragedy is part of the story in this book. #septembowie #ashestoashes #nyclove

tournevis Schanoes's novela about this is just marvelous. Stunning. 2y
DivineDiana @tournevis Thank you. I wasn't aware of it. Stacked. 2y
Hollie I'm talking about this fire in tomorrow's US history class! 2y

A favorite escapist read. And a NYC setting! It's quite an entertaining movie as well! The new employee at a fashion magazine gets a fabulous makeover! #changes #septembowie #nyclove

DivineDiana @Cinfhen It is one if the few movies that I actually own! ❤️ 2y
erzascarletbookgasm I really enjoyed the movie, so relatable when I first watched it. 2y

DivineDiana @erzascarletbookgasm I hope you didn't have a Miranda Priestly like boss! 😉 2y
Libby1 I always thought she looked better BEFORE the makeover! 🤦🏼‍♀️ 2y
DivineDiana @libby1 Everyone sees the world through their own eyes. Having worked in the fashion industry, I was in love with all the costume changes! 2y

The Catcher in the Rye | J. D. Salinger

I loved this book. Old Holden Caulfield is a sixteen-year-old who's been expelled from school and is meandering his way back home. The book details his musings along the way which are blunt, sarcastic but I believe he has a good heart; he simply has some mental health problems. Don't expect high drama or a goddam twist in the tale - this book is all about Holden's thought processes. It's a thought-provoking read and thoroughly deserves ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This has always been on my TBR list. Conquering it now.

RaimeyGallant What did you think? #NYClove 2y
Rissa1 @RaimeyGallant I hated it. I wanted to love it, but I just couldn't. My favorite parts were with the little sister. 2y
RaimeyGallant I can't remember it super well anymore. I was so young when it was assigned. 2y

This is *almost* everyone who showed up for our second #NYC bookclub meeting of the day, for #The2030SomethingBookClub! Three more showed up after this picture was taken. And it was a great discussion about "All the Ugly and Wonderful Things"! Very lively, enthusiastic, and deep! Loved our group today, so amazing, as always! ???????❤️❤️❤️

Crystalblu What happens when you turn 40? 2y
BookBabe @Crystalblu We pass the group on to someone younger. 😂👍🏻 We inherited it when it was passed down to us. 2y

ValerieAndBooks Is there a 40/50 book club when you age out of this one? 2y
BookBabe @ValerieAndBooks lol...I don't know, sometimes I think I'd get many more paintings done if I weren't involved in so many book clubs! 2y
RaimeyGallant Looks like a fun group! #NYClove 2y
