Almost twenty years later, and it‘s still so surreal. This book is going to destroy me. #theonlyplaneinthesky #garrettmgraff #september11 #91101 #neverforget

Following up the beyond-frivolous “Reputation” (which was barely a two-star read and so convoluted and over-the-top that it was crazy) with this not-at-all frivolous one. I‘m on page 14 and have cried on every one. #theonlyplaneinthesky #garrettmgraff #september11 #91101 #neverforget

marleed I believe this is an important book. In 20 years it will continue to help people understand that horrible day in history. 2w
actualdisneyprincess @marleed It‘s an incredible book. Shattering, but so, so important. Especially as more and more time passes. 2w

Currently listening to this one. Requested it in September and my hold just came in. Highly recommend the audio. It is amazing and wrenching and really, really hard to listen to. But after 18 years I‘m ready to hear the stories from the people inside the planes, inside the buildings, and otherwise on the scene.

Riveted_Reader_Melissa 18 years....😢. Still difficult to read, and yet there is a whole generation for which this is “before their time” and they‘ve never know a world when we were not at war over the events of that day. 😔 2mo

Texreader Oh my. Not sure I‘m ready yet. 😭 I just can‘t forget the gut-wrenching horror watching it happen and knowing what was happening to the people. (edited) 2mo
GingerAntics I‘m with @Texreader. I‘m not sure I‘m ready yet. I agree we need to make sure this stays current for this generation that has never known what it is like to not be at war. We need to make sure we all never forget. I just don‘t think I‘m ready. I can still remember that day so clearly. I suppose it‘s like my Uncle on the day JFK was shot. 2mo
Crazeedi I'm currently reading this, but I bet the audiobook would be riveting 2mo
Crazeedi And everyone should read this for sure! @GingerAntics @Texreader read when you feel prepared, but I highly recommend!! 2mo

This is a fictonalized account of the true story of the author's grandmother and her time spent in the concentration camps and her time after. I started just yesterday and am 82% finished.

Cinfhen Thanks for tagging me #stacked l just signed up for a Jewish Roots trip to Poland. My grandfather was born there and though he and all 9 of his siblings and parents got out between 1934-1937 all of his first cousins, aunts, uncles and grandparents died in the Holocaust. I‘ll be visiting Poland and all the sites in February. I‘m going with my daughter. I‘m mentally preparing myself 💔 2mo
Insightsintobooks @Cinfhen oh, I'm so sorry 💔💔. I'm sure the trip will be hard. Glad your father and his siblings and your grandparents were able to get out. 2mo
Cinfhen It‘s my grandfather who fled Poland , so I got to know my great grandparents and all of my great aunts and uncles. In this sense, I‘m lucky. It‘s going to be a very emotionally draining trip, but it‘s something I‘ve always talked about doing. We will be joined on the trip with a survivor who will be our guide along with another guide from Yad Vashem, Israel‘s Holocaust Museum😢😭 2mo

Insightsintobooks @Cinfhen oh wow. I don't know for sure, but I've always had a feeling I had Jewish ancestry. No one on my mother's side ever talked about their past and now there's no one to ask. So I was doing family history research and found a lot of Jewish last names... this eventually led me to Yad Vashem and I looked up a few names that I know and there were so many... like I said I'm not positive still looking into it. You are very lucky. 2mo
Insightsintobooks @Cinfhen sorry you mentioned Yad Vashem and that kinda brought me back to all those names. I'm sure the trip will be draining, but it will be informative to have a guide who is a survivor and one from Yad Vashem as well. 2mo
Cinfhen It‘s vey chilling to make that discovery @Insightsintobooks good luck with your search 💚 2mo
Insightsintobooks @Cinfhen I agree, thank you. ❤ All I know for sure is when I converted It felt like I was coming home. (I know many converts feel this way, but i don't know its hard to explain). 2mo
Cinfhen Converting to Judaism is not easy at all. I admire your dedication and strength 💜 2mo
Insightsintobooks @Cinfhen Thank you. I couldn't imagine my life without Judaism. It's like air. 2mo
