I actually read the second book this #NOLA based series first—& I‘m glad I did because I didn‘t enjoy this one as much. Fake dating can be such a fun trope, but this set-up between Hollyn and Jasper fell a little flat to me. I think I expected this to be a funnier rom-com than it was… I appreciated the Tourette‘s representation here, but this was more an agreement to be friends with benefits rather than really fake dating…also a little too steamy!

To mark my upcoming 40th Birthday my Partner and I are in New Orleans. And I could not come here and not go to Baldwin and Co. Coffee and Bookstore to browse books and grab a coffee 🖤. NOLA feels like home. No other way to explain it. #nola #jamesbaldwin #homeofmyheart

I have been fighting a cold for a week now, so it's time for a nice, healing bath. Also a great time to get started on the next books in my #neworleans #tbr for my upcoming trip to #nola . I've already read books on Voodoo, Marie Laveau, and Madame Lalaurie. Next up are The Awakening, The Axeman, and Nine Lives. Any votes for which one I should start with??? #readinginthebath #bathtimereading

5feet.of.fury I haven‘t read The Awakening since college, but I loved it. You have such a great set up for your bath 🛁 2y

Very powerful. The book follows nine Lower Ninth Ward residents and culminates shortly after Katrina.
The book is a sad reminder of how our government failed New Orleans

It was hard to keep track of the people with how the book was written so that took some away for me. I was just in NOLA so interesting to read about the areas devastated by Katrina.

Leftcoastzen Such a beautiful floof! 3y

This store was crazy! #NOLA

Leftcoastzen It even looks like wine box or fruit crate shelves at the end of rows, there was a store in Long Beach , Ca called Acres of Books with teetering boxes like that. 3y
JenReadsAlot @Leftcoastzen I was so afraid of toppling over a pile! 3y

JenReadsAlot @KristiAhlers This is my first trip! Any other recommendations? 3y
KristiAhlers @JenReadsAlot you NEED to go to Erin Rose and get a frozen Irish coffee. It‘s off Bourbon about half a block. Eat at Acme oyster house! Their Po‘boys and Boo Fries are ahhhmazing. 3y

As a nod to my upcoming first time trip to New Orleans November 19 to 22. Frightens I‘d read this and re-read Interview with a Vampire just because...
