This one is due back at the library, and it‘s sweltering outside, but I‘m trying to find the energy to finally finish this series. After being indoors all day at work, I just want to be outside reading. The 🦟 are trying to spoil my plans though, after all the rain we‘ve gotten lately. #readerproblems

Pickpick

I had read really good reviews of this book and I went into it with very high expectations…. and I thoroughly enjoyed it! But I do wish I had read it with no idea what it was about - I would have been much more swept away by it without my preconceived ideas.
Darn it, I feel like this is a 5 star book that I robbed myself of. Oh well, maybe I‘ll get it on audio next year and experience it again.

Ruthiella It happens! 😢 1y
Centique @Ruthiella it does! Must go back to my strategy of giving myself a year to forget what I‘ve heard. 😝 1y
Ruthiella @Centique Excellent strategy! I often avoid reviews on Litsy and elsewhere when I know I want to read a book for fear of knowing/expecting too much. It‘s a delicate balance! #ReaderProblems 1y

Centique @Ruthiella me too! I know we are both time travel book fans, I think I should be particularly careful about reviews for those books, the potential for finding favourites is high! 1y
squirrelbrain Great review! Hopefully you an comeback to it later and find that extra star ⭐️! 1y
Clwojick Good to hear - My hold just came in, and I have no idea what it‘s about! 😊 1y
BarbaraBB I know what you mean. I went in blind and it turned out to be a 5 star read 1y
Rissreads You have sold me! 💜 1y
Centique @Rissreads oh good! And I hope it works that 5 star magic for you 💕 1y
CarolynM Great review! I have a copy, I‘ll have to bump it up my priority list🙂 Your Christmas gift from me has apparently just landed in NZ more than 2 weeks after it was sent😡 I‘ve got my fingers crossed you might just get it tomorrow. 1y
Centique @CarolynM oh gosh do not worry at all! I will love it whenever it arrives 🥰 1y

Sitting in the airport, waiting to fly to the happiest place on earth. Loving how many readers I saw walking in, but yikes! One had folded corners and another had wrapped the front cover around to the back of the book! #ohthehorrors #bookabuse #callthepolice #disneybound #ihopeibroughtenoughbooks #readerproblems

Ok Littens. I need some help!

I keep hearing about these books but I haven't tried one yet. Never thought about it.

Today, our library announced that TJ Klune is coming to our tiny town for a reading/signing next week and since we never have ANYONE come here....I have to go! 🤣

Which one do I buy?

#ReaderProblems

ImperfectCJ I recommend The House in the Cerulean Sea. My family and I loved that one but didn't really get into Under the Whispering Door. I finished it, but they (two teens and my spouse) decided to bail. 2y
ICantImReading I also liked The House on the Cerulean Sea the best, but they are both good! 💙 2y
Soubhiville They are both amazing. Cerulean Sea is a more happy vibe, Whispering Door leans bittersweet. What are you in the mood for? 2y

Deblovestoread I had the same experience as @ImperfectCJ. All the stars for Cerulean Sea but DNF'd Whispering Door. 2y
Chrissyreadit I only read Cerulean Sea but it gets all the stars from me and will always be a favorite book. 2y
RamsFan1963 Of the two, I'd definitely pick Cerulean Sea. Whispering Door is good, but the other is AMAZING!! 2y
Smrloomis Super jealous that the author is coming to your town!! 2y
Smrloomis Oh and also 1 more vote for the The House on the Cerulean Sea… haven‘t read the other one yet but I loved The House. 2y
julesG Cerulean Sea! The other Littens already said it, Whispering Door is good, but CS is just so much better. 2y
FantasyChick Well I guess the votes are in and I have an answer! Thanks for all your help @ImperfectCJ @ICantImReading @Soubhiville @Deblovestoread @Chrissyreadit @RamsFan1963 @Smrloomis @julesG I'll be heading to the bookstore after work!! 2y
Booksblanketsandahotbeverage How was the author visit? I just read Whispering Door and loved it!! 1y

This was great. A quick and somewhat creepy read but I was left with a lot of questions. Like a LOT of questions. Looks like I have another series to continue #ReaderProblems

I was swept away by this novel. Just a big, dramatic story about scholarly passion and obsession, Victorian poets and the making of art, and love, but I think its dry humour goes under the radar.

Other 5 ⭐ reads that come to mind for P are Jane Austen's Persuasion and Pride and Prejudice, and Susanna Clarke's Piranesi.

JamieArc I loved this book, and it was a delight to hear her speak some years ago. 2y
LeeRHarry This is a fave of mine too - great choice 😊 2y
BarbaraBB Oh yes, another good one! 2y

AllDebooks Very good choice 2y
Ruthiella Loved this one too, as well as all your other choices! 👍 2y
quietjenn I feel like this is one I should revisit. 2y
batsy @JamieArc That must have been wonderful. She seems so intelligent. 2y
batsy @LeeRHarry @BarbaraBB @AllDebooks @Ruthiella So glad I'm in good company 🙂 2y
batsy @quietjenn It's the type of book that rewards re-reading, for sure! 2y
Centique Such a good book - and a recent read for me! 2y
Suet624 Piranesi!!! 💕💕 2y
batsy @Centique I keep having this urge to re-read it and I keep putting it aside because of all my unread books! #ReaderProblems 2y

Finally!! After some weather delays it is here 😍😍

My first thought: Not a big fan of the cover but I didn't care for the first cover that much either🤷‍♀️

Second thought: How the fuck am I going to hold this to read? 🤣

#BookMail #NewBooks #ChunkyBooks #ReaderProblems

Professional_Book_Dragon Im reading it right now and it‘s a challenge. I like to read in the bath tub but this is not a bathtub friendly book. It‘s amazing so far though 2y
Follow.my.read I have a “book pillow” LOL! I need it especially for Brandon Sanderson books!!! 2y
KristiAhlers Yeah I‘m a total fan of carrying a book wherever I go. To include taking a bath with it. On top of that I‘ve got small hands. Like I get my winter gloves in the kids section 😂 so it was a challenge. I propped it up on a pillow! And proceeded to inhale it over three days! 2y
FantasyChick @Professional_Book_Dragon @Follow.my.read @KristiAhlers I'm a big fan of reading in the tub and in bed but there is NO way this beast is going to work! I think I might have to steal the pillow idea and read on the couch for a while. I started it immediately and I think it might be a quick read! 2y

Books and Reading are two different hobbies
https://bookriot.com/books-vs-reading/

I am guilty of spending more time curating my tbr and searching for exciting new releases than actually, you know, reading. Once I acquire a new book, either purchased or borrowed from the library, my interest kinda wanes. Anyone else relate?? #bookriot #readerproblems

RaeLovesToRead Yes!!!! I love reading and I love the planning, curating and purchasing, but they are (in a way) separate hobbies 😄 Also, I'm sure I spend more time looking at cats on Litsy than actually getting reading done 🤣🤣🤣 2y
Tamra Hahaha totally! 2y
Simona Absolutely! 🤷🏻‍♀️ 2y

Jess I‘m right there with you! 2y
readordierachel Yep 🤭😂 2y
JamieArc Totally relate. Sometimes I worry I love books more than actually reading (my dream job is a book historian). I also really love book planning. 2y
EvieBee Definitely! The research and planning is wonderful! 2y
DrexEdit I find that Litsy definitely encourages my books tendencies more than my reading ones. 😂 But the social aspects are worth the trade-off! 👍 2y
SRWCF Same, but I'm getting better! 2y
Nute Yes! I enjoy the practice of list making and the art of browsing far more than I should.🥴 2y
