3½✨
I know this one isn't officially part of the #RealmOfElderlings read-a-long.

However, after discovering the Piebald Prince in Assassin's Quest and realizing there's a short story about him, I simply had to find out more.

As with everything I've read by Hobb this is a well tailored little tale of the first Witted Prince to take a short rule over the Six Duchies.
⬇️ continue ⬇️

Enchanted_Bibliophile I believe it marks the beginning of all the Wit Magic rumors and misconceptions we've encountered in the Farseer trilogy.
There's drama, cunning and at the heart of all; of course there's Love.

I'll definitely recommend this to all my fellow #RealmOfElderlings reading buddies.

Dug out my musty copy so I‘m ready to go! How I wish I could‘ve afforded the fancy Folio editions from a few years back.

The magic in this trilogy is god tier. The story is fast-paced & the multiple POVs are used skillfully to keep the pace quick and build the world. The political turmoil makes me wonder if the author is clairvoyant. Also, there are the coolest fucking dragons ever written. I could go on and on. Read this trilogy.

JamieArc Which is the first? I‘ve wanted to read a Robin Hobb book for a while but was intimidated, not knowing where to start. 7mo
Rachel.Rencher @JamieArc I started with Ship of Magic which is book 1 in the Liveship Trader trilogy, but I found out later it was book 4 in the Realm of the Elderlings universe. The trilogy I read is a standalone in the same universe, so I didn't miss out on anything by starting here. If you want to start at the VERY beginning though, go with Assassin's Apprentice which is book 1 of the Farseer trilogy. 🥰 7mo
PuddleJumper @JamieArc I'm running a readalong/book club where we read all of the books. We're starting with Assassin's Apprentice in February though you can jump in whenever. Everything is under the #RealofElderlings tag 7mo

One of the things that I love most about this book is the naming of the characters. There are names suited very well to the fantasy genre like Althea, Keffria, Malta, Grag, Wintrow, and Brashen to name a few. Then there's Kyle. And yes, Kyle sucks as a person. He's the absolute worst. His name stands out among the rest like a sore thumb and I think it's by design maybe? Idk, but I think it's hilarious.

1. I decided to join the #realmoftheelderlings readalong hosted by @PuddleJumper
2. I went for a walk 2 days this week and made progress in my walking game called Walking Planet
3. I signed up for Tome since TikTok is getting banned
4 & 5 - I gave feedback to Taylor Bradshaw on what he should focus on next for his music this year and as a thank you gift to me, he sent me a voice memo of a new song in progress and song lyrics.

Repost for @PuddleJumper

I've set up a book club on Storygraph about reading the entire Realm of Elderlings series - https://app.thestorygraph.com/book_clubs/29999d93-0689-409b-8291-72dbf71334bf

I'll host readalongs, buddy reads and I'll post on Litsy. I'm hoping to start February/March. Couple of things need sorting like reading order and whether some books need two months to read.

I was kind of leery going into this because in book one none of the characters were capable of making good decisions BUT this one there was actual growth! One character I absolutely hated in book one became a character I thought really well of by the end of this one.

This trilogy is one of my most anticipated from my TBR but I keep procrastinating starting because this is the end and I don‘t want my time in The Realm of the Elderlings to end.
