The Overstory: A Novel | Richard Powers

⭐️⭐️⭐️
I thought the first part was really good. The introductions to the characters and how trees played into their individual histories had me like 😍🌲 But then the rest was very up and down for me. After their great set up, I thought the characters felt pretty meh after that and things moved at a pace that felt too slow in some places and too fast in others. ⬇️

Cinfhen Exactly how I felt about this book!!! After such a careful and beautifully crafted introduction (about 200 pages) this book became a CHORE to get through. Our bookclub all felt similar. 4y

⭐️⭐️⭐️ Over the weekend I had a lovely day at one of my happy places, the beach, with my mom and sister. While enjoying the sea breeze I finished Penumbra which is about another one of my happy places, the bookstore. I enjoyed it and Sloan certainly has a distinct style but I liked Sourdough better.

After 4 years at Tulane I will always hold New Orleans #closetome 💚💛💜 My Mom ( @Mdargusch ) went to High school and Tulane with the author of this book! So I chose to read it for #booked2019 #remindsyouofyourhappyplace. Savic really captured the peculiar essence and eccentric personalities that make up NOLA but the story left me wanting more... #anglophileapril

I read “The Truth About Forever” for the first time when I was seventeen. I loved it just as much then as I do now, on the eve of my 30th birthday.

I love the writing style, the well-written characters, the emotion behind the storylines and romances. Wes is still one of my all-time favorite book boyfriends. Most of all, I love how reading any of Sarah Dessen‘s books is just like coming home.

Piano Tide: A Novel | Kathleen Dean Moore

Okay so I've never been to Alaska (where this book is technically set) but I do love the Pacific NW. Plus, Moore is my favorite nature writer so I'm going to go ahead & pick this one for #remindsyouofyourhappyplace. It's filled to the brim with nature. Forests, oceans, storms, animals. Toss in a few quirky characters, a piano, and I'm happy as a clam. #booked2019
