All three books have beautiful illustrations, and are a delight for kids and adults. The tagged reminds me of stories I grew up hearing from my parents. The festivals book reminds me of summer break projects that our school bestowed on us, and the book on Klint is insightful!

Reggie Have you read Divakaruni‘s adult novels. They are amazing and among my favorites. 7d
BiblioLitten @Reggie Yes! Palace of Illusions is my favourite, Forest of Enchantments I read earlier this year and this one i often recommend Sister of My Heart to friends because it‘s so good. Mistress of Spices was the first book I read by her and I remember liking it. (edited) 7d

What a delightful book about a grandmother who crosses the jungle to go see her daughter and grandchildren! I read it online on everand, but will buy the paper version for the grandkid. I think it will speak to her just as much as it spoke to me.

“What does it mean to be free from the belly? It could be that those who claim such freedom are just well fed. The belly is less demanding when there is plenty to eat, after all, and one who is not buffeted by hunger if one is not regularly hungry… the well fed take the artifice of their situations and pass it off as an eternal verity.”

Published in 2003, Just a Minute won the Pura Belpre Award along with the golden kite award. This is a story about Grandma Beetle needing to do chores around the house before she is able to go with Senor Calavera. I would read this story to my classroom because it has excellent illustrations and a good message about being patient. It also includes culture that some students may not be familiar with to learn more about.

Did you know she has a new series out and the main character is Alana and Jonathan‘s daughter? I may have to read it. I loved The Lioness Quartet so much when I was young! #Trick #Scarathlon2022 #ScarathlonDailyPrompt #TeamMonsterMash @StayCurious @Clwojick

And then there is this one. The Lord laughed when this one dropped into my lap. He is BUSY,full of energy, loves pranks, and pulling one over on you. I call him my sour patch kid, he‘s a little sour but then so sweet. He still wants his momma to hold him and read to him before being tucked in and I will hold onto that for as long as I can!

I read a few children‘s books for #foodandlit Brazil today. Jabuti The Tortoise is mythology - thank you for the link @Bookworm54 ! The Sock Thief is a modern picture book. And The Quest For Z is children‘s nonfiction. I really liked them all! But I was stuck by how effective the art in The Quest For Z is. (especially since I read it last, and for anything to stand up against the bright beautiful colors in Jabuti is impressive!)

Butterfinger I love the art in picture books. 5y
