Setting is an Amish village in rural upstate New York- a girl was found frozen in the woods by a lake. Kate, bc of her history as a former Amish, is asked to go undercover as an Amish widow. The suspense kept me on the edge of my seat

Actively trying to post in a more timely fashion what I‘m reading 🙈
I loved this book- I love tana french‘s writing- she really just places you right into the environment of a story, and it stays with me. I‘m so glad I haven‘t read through all of her dublin series so I still have them to look forward to. Am also very much looking forward to her newest release coming in March.
The best crime novel I‘ve read this year. The Likeness gives The Secret History vibes mixed with excellent, Irish procedural crime storytelling. Although the premise is a bit wild, once you suspend this disbelief you‘re in for a richly characterised, complexly plotted, well-paced, gritty novel. I loved and luxuriated in every minute of reading this. Can‘t wait to read the rest of the series.
The Likeness isn‘t a read-it-all-in-one-sitting grip-the-pages-til-your-knuckles-turn-white thriller. It‘s one to pick up when you‘re looking for a more complex story, one that weaves together police procedure and Gothic intrigue and psychological games. Even if the twists didn‘t surprise me, the whole of the novel sure did. Full review: https://keepingupwiththepenguins.com/the-likeness-tana-french/
Sick-ish days mean old lady kitty snuggles and old favorite book re-reads for recovery in between work meetings
Finished book 1 and now immediately diving into the next book!
This was a long one too. I thought the storyline was interesting though. It always amazes me how one person can be so persuasive and charismatic and get people to follow along with anything he does or says. I recommend this book. #SeriesLove2023 @TheSpineView @Andrew65
“In ‘In the Woods‘, Cassie Maddox has transferred out of the Dublin Murder Squad—until an urgent telephone call brings her back to an eerie crime scene.
The victim looks exactly like Cassie and carries ID identifying herself as Alexandra Madison, an alias Cassie once used as an undercover cop. Suddenly, Cassie is back undercover, to find out not only who killed this young woman, but, more importantly, who she was. #DublinMurderSquad #series
